Generally speaking I choose what clothes I am going to wear before I choose my jewelry or my shoes or anything else. That went out the window the other night when my friend Abraxxa Anatine of EarthStones sent me the new Tiana necklace and earrings in coral. The instant I saw it I knew what I had to wear with it – a dress I had seen at Modern Gypsy the week before but had not purchased in a futile attempt to manage my budget. I tp’ed over to Modern Gypsy and checked out the dress to see if I remembered correctly. Yes! It was perfect for highlighting the marvelous necklace as you can see here.
The front of the dress vees down to just below the navel creating a frame for the long lines of the Tiana necklace before bursting into a riotous eruption of skirt ruffles and tiers. Aptly named Volcanique, the dress features a firey fabric that is ablaze with heat.
I am glad to note that the dress does not make an equivalent dash for the southern border on the back for two reasons. The first is that just as when you have heavy eye makeup you should have more subtle lipstick, I think if you want to feature the sexiness of the front that you should reel it back a bit on the back or vice versa. Restrained exposure is much sexier than overexposure. Secondly, although pixel clothing does not slip, I do like feeling that the physics of the clothing makes sense. I could wear this without the need for tape to hold the top in place.
A dress that hot demand shoes that are just as exciting – the Stiletto Moody Bare Katherine shoes are exciting enough to wear with anything. The Single Lady hair from Exile is much more flexible than it first appears, looking good in a range of poses. I love the look of it with the dress.
As luck would have it, my friend Hart Larsson of PXL Creations had just sent me the new makeup for his upcoming (after June 22) release of Candy and the cleavage enhancer he made for it. The cleavage enhancer is worn on the underwear layer – and not a cleavage skin like he did last time. You can see how it looks without and with the cleavage enhancement. My own preference is for without since I have never wanted to compete with Chesty McChesterson.
Here you can see the exciting new makeup for Candy that was so timely in arriving just when I needed it. As you can see, Hart applies the rule of countering dramatic eyes with subtle lips to keep your look in balance and avoid any clownish, overdone effect.
