I have mentioned my love of polka dots before. I don’t know why, but they make me smile. No insult intended to squares and triangles and rhombi, but they just don’t press my happy button the way these lovely little round circles do. Polka dots often make me think retro and rockabilly. They make me think of Rizzo and Jive-Talkin’ and dancing the night away. Certainly this fun little set of separates from A-Bomb would have made Rizzo happy any day of the week.
Please note the perfectly fitting belt – it’s attached directly to the skirt so it stays on the outside of the skirt no matter how you move. The skirt length is a nice rockabilly length and is less full than the traditional poodle – and that’s much more flattering. I am wearing a pair of red platforms from Kookie, though the open wedge heels are far too modern for Rizzo, but if you wear all vintage/retro without a modern touch here and there, your outfit will look like a costume, not an outfit.
The pearl necklace from Atelier AM is long, casual and even, dare I say, dotty. AM Atelier shares store space with Den Dou, if you have trouble finding it. The hair is from I Love Olive – a new collaborative release with Boudoir. The little hat is part of the hair and just delightfully cute.
The skin is from Exile’s new Rapture release – very old Hollywood with the red, red lips and the precision eye makeup – so it’s fitting that this makeup option is called Old Hollywood. I like the makeup variety and uniqueness in this skin line.
