I was casting around for costume ideas last night, I got the brainstorm to go to Unique Needs. Now, I know it’s not a costume shop, it’s a clothing store for the BDSM subculture and has fashionable clothes for those shoppers. However, in my opinion, if you’re not part of a subculture and dress in the clothing of a subculture, that’s a costume. Besides, when I got there I discovered Unique Needs has a much broader range of clothing that I had assumed…including this romantic, frou-frou dress I am wearing today. Color me surprised and well, there again you see the danger of assumptions.
This dress is so feminine and romantic that I fell in love with it. Part of a marvelous series of romantic dresses and capes, it was just stunning. When I saw it, I was reminded of the painting Night With Her Train of Stars by Edward Robert Hughes. It’s not that the dress is based on Night’s dress, but they both gave me the same sense of loving the beauty of the night and the night sky. According to the note that came with the dress, this gown won the Ewing Fashion Agency Design Award 2008 for Evening Wear. I can see why, it’s just stunning and the cape is a marvel.
For set lovers, this gown is a complete package. It includes the gown, complete with a scripted skirt for sitting and a system skirt for a sleeker look. In addition to all the clothing pieces, the set includes 2 necklace chokers, bracelets, 2 crowns and shoes. And of course, nobody will force you to wear the jewelry only with this gown, so you will have a lovely diamond jewelry set for many formal occasions.
Now, a thank you to our blog readers. Yesterday was a record-breaker for us. We average around 350 visits a day. I have no idea where that falls in the fashion blog spectrum, but we feel happy that the blog grows every month. Sometimes, though, our views have gotten as high as 594, 598 and 599 in the past. I noticed visits were higher than usual yesterday and thought maybe we will finally break 600 since we have come within kissing distance several times. When I got home, we had not only passed 600, but 700 as well, so wow! thanks everyone. As a thank you for all your support for our blog, I have put 10 of the original textures I have made for my photos in a notecard at MDR. Just click on the It’s Only Fashion sign in the portfolio room and you will get the notecard and can drag the textures out of it. The texture in this post is one in the set.
Incidentally, when you are in Unique Needs, don’t forget to look at the shoes. There are two pairs of color-change stilettos there. The plain stilettos are free and the ones with a chain and hearts are 150L. They have something like 68 color change options. With the freebie, you can ensure you have your color needs met with a simple, plain stiletto – the bottom line basic wardrobe staple.

Definitely one of the finest things I’ve seen in the Metaverse. I loved this so much when it first came out that I bought all the color variations in the collection — an extensive expense at the time for me, but worth it, if just for the jewelry! When Ann took the Ewing Award for this gown, I squealed in joy.
Try wearing it without the lace top; that gives a whole ‘nother look, and one that I actually prefer. (I think I’ve said elsewhere how I don’t do much lace [grin].)
I can see why. I had such a hard time choosing one – they are all beautiful. I love that they are not just different shades of the same texture, too. And 500 lindens for a ball gown, complete jewelry set and shoes is a bargain in any universe.
I tried to get your textures as you offered and hit a script error and couldn’t get them. Any suggestions?
I checked it and it is working fine. I don’t know why you had a problem, so I dropped the notecard on your profile. You should get it when you sign on.
