When Alice07 Barzane announced that the Peppermint Blue 1 Year Anniversary Party was going to be a Western Theme……I knew where I was going to turn. While I LOVE the fun of just hunting up stuff via search (I actually do) – looking up stores I might not have heard of etc to see what they have, I’d been looking for a reason to pick up WASTELAND COWGIRL from Bare Rose for quite a while.
I don’t normally look for a reason to pick up clothes, but this kind of falls into the “Costume” milieu of my closet and I don’t generally just collect costumes without cause. Yet, from the instant I saw this one on Phil’s place posted by Tori….I knew I wanted it. Pink Leather Chaps?!?! PLEASE!
Typical of the fashions at Bare Rose, this outfit thoughtfully comes with a bazillion layers for options, multiple colors of those layers and loads of accessories (hat, belt, gloves, scarf). PLUS you have the option of wearing pants, as I am, or going all hoochi-mama and wearing the chaps WITHOUT the pants (this comes as an option on it’s own layer).
Also included is a bra and panty layer which is a holstein cow print – rather hilarious. I may yet wear it for a bathing suit somewhere.
Since boots and pants are never friends in SL, I just added the bottom piece of one of Miffy’s boots. This is a great solution – the top of your boot isn’t going to show up properly in your flair leg pants ANYWAY – so just wear the bottom of the boot – the shoe layer – and it’ll appear that the rest of the boot is hiding up your pant leg.

I’ve often wondered that about boots, and I’ve started doing just that trick when I wear pants at the same time.
Very nice overall, but I think I like the hat the most. It’s got the kind of battered yet sturdy look a good cowboy hat should have.
(Sigh) Your title brings back memories, by the way. I always did like The Electric Horseman, where I first heard Willie sing that song.
My heroes have always been cowboys
And they still are it seems
Sadly in search of and one step in back of
Themselves and their slow-movin’ dreams
