I think everyone’s mom but mine had that room, that perfect living room. The room where things matched, and were coordinated, where things got dusted.  We never had that room, we had chaos and messy and mismatched furniture.

When it came time to buy my own house in real life, having that room wasn’t much of a priority to me either – I coveted a proper dining room. I have been wearing Wasabi Pills since 2008, though the first year I was wearing Wasabi Pills skin and then later, when she began wearing hair, I started wearing her hair, too. Between Gidge and me, there are nearly 200 posts with Wasabi Pills hair. I do not know if I was one of the first to blog her items, but I do remember that when I first blogged her skin, she sent me a warm and friendly note. I also remember how when mesh hit the grid, she hit the ground running as if all that time before mesh was just preparation for mesh when she really got into creating a new level.

My Slink Obsession Brings Us Full Circle

I must confess that clothing appliers amuse me. After all, when I began back in 2007, most clothing was made of textures applied on the avatar’s system layer. Details like buttons and collars and cuffs were usually drawn on and even photo sourced clothing had an air of unreality to it. Flexis and sculpts added depth and form, but they did not add verisimilitude. And then came mesh and there was a revolution in fashion where most of the design effort was focused on the forms, the shape, the buttons, collars and other details and the fabrics were added later. Because the barriers to entry for mesh creation are higher in terms of skills and software, several designers retreated and retired. Now that mesh bodies have replaced the system body for thousands of us, we are back to applying textures, this time on the mesh body. It does seem like we have come full circle – though with a distinct revolution in quality.

For example, this swimsuit from MiaMai is put on with an applier. It’s from the quarterly My Slink Obsession event that opens tomorrow. Certainly there are lots of mesh swimsuits and even several that don’t flash unsuspecting bystanders, though I think they are in the minority. However an applied swimsuit has its advantages, especially for those bystanders when one is sitting down and shifting positions in a chair. Another reason to love appliers is how much easier it makes layering. All of us have struggled with trying on a dozen blouses trying to fine one that will fit under a jacket and longed for the days of system clothing when layering was as easier as one, two, three. This brings back that ease coupled with the higher quality of the mesh body.

Oh Good Morning Girls

Good Morning girls. I’ve decided not to do Monday today after all. There’s too much shopping to do, my house is a wreck with clothes strewn everywhere and honestly, I should organize my make up I think. Instead I’ve made blender drinks and hit the ocean.  I cannot possibly be expected to adult today. It’s out of the question.

I bought a new rafts for chilling in the water from What Next (new to me) and that’s my plan for today.

I love blue drinks, did you know that? I’m OBSESSED with them. I have a whole Pinterest board dedicated to blue drinks. You can go see it if you look me up, I’m Gidgery on Pinterest. JUMO has released an amazing gown. It’s an entire outfit, really, with shoes, jewelry and the works, but I like to mix and match and showcase different ways to wear things, so even though an outfit is lovely, I seldom wear it right out of the box. Part of the joy and purpose of blogging is showing how clothing is more versatile that it first appears, mixing it with other items as I have here – adding this jacket from Peqe, for example, mainly because I prefer a shrug or jacket over something strapless. That beautiful sideswept hair is from Wasabi Pills.

Wearing a ballgown can sometimes be a balancing act even when you are not on a tightrope. After all, the overall zeitgeist of SL fashion has become more informal with ever passing year. I don’t care, though, I love formal gowns – in my first and my second lives. Sadly I cannot afford so many in my first. This gown comes with several alternatives including the sheer lace attachment that covers its entirety as well as option flexi skirts that add fullness and flow to the skirt. They come in gold or a deep rose red.

The sheer lace overdress may be a bit polarizing. It does not bling, but there is some script I think that makes the texture seem to sparkle. I wore it this morning and got rave compliments on one hand, but also an IM asking if there was some glitch because “it looks like it’s tuned to a channel that has no reception. It’s off the air.” 150606_012

 

However, it is an add on, so it can be left off – which gives you an equally brilliant gown. That peacock is a pet, by the way and follows voice commands. I sent him to his perch so I quit knocking him in the head with my dress as he followed me about. He sat there and would occasionally fan his plumage. Such a lovely boy.

By the way, speaking of bird, do you not just love this flying bird ring from Swallow? It’s at The Arcade and not to be missed. Alaskametro released these new nails and I swear I could not have found a better complement to this gown if I had commissioned one to be made for it.

VCO  has skin and a cute pouty lip mouth in The Arcade this round.  I didn’t have any trouble with this mouth, in terms of making it look right. I’ve heard feeback from some mouths out there that you have to PS them a bit to make them look right. I simply used the resize option built into it to enlarge it a bit and adjusted it on my face to the right spot.

There’s Only So Much

Adam n Eve released appliers for the Lelutka mesh head and I had to try them out this morning. I wasn’t feeling like getting dressed. Who knew that I’d end up feeling not doing nothing for the rest of today, and this would be the sum of my accomplishments today? Well, it could be worse.

I could’ve said the word FUCK a record number of times in meetings today.

Oh wait, that actually happened. Nevermind. Oh well, I never claimed not to have a potty mouth.
