For me, ironing has always been a peaceful relaxing activity. I would set up the ironing board in the living room by the couch and have the unearned in a basket on one side and an empty basket on the other to place the newly ironed pieces. I would lower the ironing board so I could sit on the couch and watch something on television while I ironed and work away. It’s quiet, peaceful and easy to do, so ironing was a favorite chore.
It’s always a bad idea to go shopping when you are hungry but since I so rarely let pixel Gidge eat, she’s always hungry when she shops. Today she stopped over at her favorite butcher to pick up some meat because, hey, meat.
It was also an excuse to go for a stroll in my new shoes from Nardcotix – OMG REMEMBER NARDCOTIX? Well I do, fondly,and I’m excited to have them back in my SLife !
My favorite butcher always gives me a burrito, he’s thoughtful. He’s also a bit dumb because he spells is buritto making it impossible to FIND once I’m ready to eat it. But regardless, I strolled over to a lovely park to enjoy my burrito (spelled right) on this beautiful day. Continue reading
Vixen Thibideau has launched a new EVENTS blog (I am spelling her name probably) and it’s called Eloquence SL. I’m always interested in GOOD events coverage, I enjoy SERAPHIM but I think that more GOOD coverage is a positive thing for shoppers and bloggers alike. Today is my RL birthday. In RL I will spend it in a meeting room for 8 hours with giant pads of paper and electronic white boards. But In SL I’ve decided to give myself the girly day I deserve, starting with a luxurious bath.
My friend Natalie sent me lovely birthday jewels, in my own birthstone – OPAL – and I ‘m going o wear them all day. I love having a cursed stone as a birthstone. It makes me feel like a super hero with powers to overcome a curse. Continue reading
I know Gidge blogged this dress from Fission a couple weeks ago. I had already put it on and styled it before I saw her blog post and I have not had the energy to change clothes. I do plan to change clothes sometime today. It’s been two weeks and even pixel clothing can get stale.
Sometimes life can change “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye” and nothing is the same after that. Two weeks ago, that happened to my sister when she learned she had breast cancer. She made me promise not to freak out or worry, so I tried, but I did not succeed. When we all lost my brother to cancer; it was easier. I always assumed he would get cancer from chain smoking all his life and that’s what happened. But my sister does not smoke, does not drink except for a glass of wine now and then and, as a nutritionist herself, has always favored a healthy diet and exercise at a local gym. In essence, she did all the right things and still got got dealt the cancer card.
My sisters and I know the real reason for braided hair. It’s not to look pretty. It’s to keep your hair neat and untangled. My hair would snarl if you looked at it wrong, so Mom would French braid it. I remember when my parents sent me to spend a week with their friends in Sioux City who were as close to grandparents as I had. When Mom was done braiding it, my skin was stretched taut and I am sure I had a mini-facelift. Under strict orders, I left the braids in while bathing and showering, washing them without unbraiding them – and sure enough, they stayed in place for the entire week. She had no time for loose, casual braids like this lovely one from Anya Ohmai for Hair Fair. A braid that did not ache for a few hours was unworthy of the name.

Fashion For Life closes in just three short hours from now and it is a bittersweet moment for me. I am relieved to have made it to the end without major disasters and dramas. Sure, there were glitches and hiccups and moments of anxiety – par for the course for any event involving more than 200 people. As a species, we come with glitches attached. I am going to miss running the 10 sim circuit from sim to sim to sim to do the daily restarts. I was asked not to restart them all at once, so I figured a run from one end of a sim to the other, following the path, would take me about the right amount of time between each restart. I always did run astray at Perambulate though, tempted off the track by the skate park. Anyway, it has been a wonderful project, raising thousands of dollars for the critical work of the American Cancer Society as it leads global efforts to prevent, treat and cure cancer.
One of the Champions – the large donors whose co-sponsorship of the sims allows all event proceeds to go to Relay For Life – was Mon Cheri of “falsies” fame. Her eyelashes are favorites of people across the grid and even Gidge who has a love-hate relationship with attached lashes likes them. She made several exclusives for Fashion For Life including this adorable summer dress Sachi – which she released in several color combinations.

Love Seals and Croft and that song just felt like it fit this mood. Standing on the beach at Black Basalt Beach, a beautiful sim to just hang out or surf (or take pictures). This post is dedicated to the summer themed items at Collabor88, which just opened on June 8th.
