It’s getting cold in my SL and that’s ok, I like it that way. The feeds are full of rotting bodies and grotesque make ups and well, that just means Halloween is upon us.

Second Spaces brought some lovely fall decor to Collabor88 this month and I’m madly in love because it’s all ONE PIECE rather than 438954579 separate pieces that rez together and then you have to link them all yourself to move them.
I swear to you, there is a special hell for people who put their decor releases out like that.
I curse you, I do. Every time I realize I’m about to unpack something something that’s multiple items which are unlinked part of me dies inside.
That’s why Second Spaces is the bees knees. It really is. Continue reading

Costumes tell a story.
I’ve heard that saying, but I wonder if I’m always in costumes or clothes? Regardless of that, I’ve spent my morning running around in an October fueled joy, because it’s pumpkin time and it’s Halloween time and leaves are turning.
It’s time for everything to change.
I hit the FLF hard and heavy this morning too, as evidenced by my pumpkins, dress and shoes. WORTH every penny.
Some people might tell you it’s too soon to start Halloween dressing and decorating.
We call such people bad friends and recommend you limit your exposure to them. No one needs that kind of negativity.

You have a few hours to get to Collabor88 before this deliciously neutral theme goes away and the rich harvest colors come in. It will be good as well, but I have a love of neutrals and the romantic delicacies that were the highlight of September. This sweater from The Secret Store beautiful encapsulates the September SweetCheeks theme with its lace and pearl buttons.
Baiastice’s Chause trousers are a lovely illustration that neutrals can be bold.

But even when the moon looks like it’s waning…it’s actually never changing shape. Don’t ever forget that. -Ai Yazawa
That quote seems perfect for Moon Amore, the store that released this lovely outfit at Collabor88 this month. It seems no matter the event, you can always recognize Moon Amore for the fresh, feminine styles released. There’s a daintiness that is emblematic in every release.
Macarons are such beautiful desserts it is no surprise that beauty lovers in Second Life celebrate them. The single macarons from Genesis Lab at The Arcade include an eating pose set that is adorable.
Thankfully, my avatar chews with her mouth closed.

Just a quick reminder that it’s not too late to run by the Arcade to pick up those items you might not have gotten. The clock is ticking.
As for Claire and WIlbur? Well, they’re going to the fair….obviously.

“A proper community, we should remember also,
is a commonwealth: a place, a resource, an economy.
It answers the needs, practical as well as social and spiritual,
of its members — among them the need to need one another” — Wendell Berry
Rustica was one of the first furniture stores I ever visited in Second Life. My friend Maht Wuyts from The Velvet and I would go there at least a couple times a month. We had a photo studio and it was furnished with Rustica’s Couch of Many Colors and there was that sleek recliner that offered Grey Goose martinis. There was the sleeper sofa that opened up with a mouse click into a bed. Long billowy curtains that pooled on the floor. Man, we loved that place. It felt like a real shop, a bit over-crowded and messy. You know, like an old-fashioned place that is the opposite of a mall. Unlike many stores, when you visited Rustica, the owner might be sitting behind the counter and would even chat. So Max Graf has been an SL acquaintance and friend for ten years now. During all that time, he has been a friendly and generous member of Second Life’s community.
Sadly, he and his family have lost their home due to legal manipulations they may be able to overturn, but not in time to keep a roof over their heads. They risk homelessness without some help. Second Life is a proper community and proves it again and again, a place where people can admit to needing each other. Max asked people to shop at his store, but people, remembering all Max has done over the years to build SL community wanted to do more. That’s where Going to the Max came from, the knowledge that Second Life is a proper community.

I spent about 20 minutes editing photos after shooting in my home studio, only to realize when I was done that I had uploaded the originals to FLICKR. In a moment of frustration I decided to make lemonade and declare this intentional and show off how lovely raw photos can be. WELL THEY CAN BE. Continue reading
