For a long time I’ve wanted a second home and this past week one availed itself and I could not resist. Just a place to get away on the weekends and relax with no cares – who could resist? So when a houseboat opened up near many awesome people I couldn’t say no.
I’m still moving in and decorating. I didn’t really think through my dining options when I moved in so I’ve ordered delivery of donuts. This is perfect, as far as I’m concerned. I’ll spend a lovely evening here on the water, full of donuts, and then return back to the world tomorrow.
It’s a good plan.
I have nowhere to go and all day to get there.

Once upon a time, I was a fae. I would roam the lands of a fantasy role play sim, wearing beautiful gowns and wings. But then sad things happened, I lost the love of my Slife, and left a land that no longer felt like home. I sometimes still miss the simple joy of fly-dancing with my beloved around the drum circle, surrounded by my best friends, Shay the fae, Maelenn the avariel, Eithne the dryad and Richy the dragon. So when I spotted the wings from Decoy at Collabor 88, it felt like a blast from the past, and I just had to put together an outfit with The Secret Store’s latest cutie, and find a whimsical place to take a picture.
Since I got my Lelutka Nova head, I’ve been wearing the same skin, as it was the only one I demoed that felt like me. Well I finally found another one, but, oh well, it’s yet again a skin from Lara Hurley. What can I say, her work is amazing. I’d also like to tell you about a store I discovered not long ago, Simple Bloom. If you’re not satisfied with your eyebrows, or if you want to try something different, and get a unique look, go visit their store, they have hundreds of different eyebrows, mostly BOM, and they are extremely well made.

So, last Monday, I spent the best part of my day setting up for Fantasy Faire. I have OCD so you can imagine how having everything in the exact right spot is vital to me. Turns out, Alia Baroque’s gorgeous sim, Aetherea, suffers from an illness that the Linden are unable to identify (they find it “interesting”) and the sim isn’t working properly. On Saturday we were asked to please set up out most important vendors on a mini Aetherea, and this morning, I woke up to a notecard telling me to copy my whole set up to a mirror sim. I had a complete meltdown. Due to ONE item that appeared to be no copy (and that I only identified when I was almost done), I had to move my items pretty much one by one over to the new sim. I have to say, if it weren’t for a fellow fairelander and Alia’s impeccable work, I would have lost it. Anyway, now that I’m done, I can finally relax with a blog post.

I don’t even remember when I purchased Filter Forge®, the popular third-party companion to PhotoShop® that lets you apply fancy filters to your photos. It was long ago, maybe 2008 or 2009. Anyway, I don’t even use PhotoShop anymore as my laptop has no CD/DVD drive to allow me to install it. With materials, shadows, mesh bodies, and all the other controls we have over our raw shots, there’s no real need for PhotoShop either, except for the super fancy portraits with painted hair and so on. I still use Filter Forge from time to time for the fun of it. I just open photos directly in the software. Anyway, it’s 80% off today so I thought I would play with it and let you all know that it’s deeply discounted. Please note, that is an ordinary link with no clever code that gives me some compensation for promoting their software. I just have the basic package, the cheapest one, and it has everything I need. I don’t need to do pictures bigger than 3000 by 3000, so it’s enough for me. The filter I am using today is Retro Imaging. All the filters are free, you only buy the software. Update: By the way, don’t get stressed by the discount ending today. They run a deep discount several times a year, so if you don’t do it today, you will get another chance in the next few months.
I am wearing an adorable dress and jacket from Decoy. It has a color change HUD with all sorts of options in prints and solids for the dress and matching solid colors for the jacket. The prints are inspired by Collabor88’s Greenery theme and if you get the big pack, there are some exclusive very bright, bold saturated color prints as well. There are a handful of people in SL that’ve been around forever and my friend Eb is one of them. He came over to visit, and we gossiped about his new loves and what’s going on in his SL.
I gotta get some couches with friends hanging out poses because I was cycling through poses and they were all way too “I don’t like you like that” for us to chill and talk. It was amusing to chill and talk about other women though, in what looked like wildly romantic poses, but that’s just not us.
He’s my second oldest friend still on the grid and it was fun to chill with him. And now I’m all caught up on his romantic life!
The question was asked yesterday, just before SHOETOPIA opened and I had to laugh and use it for my post. It was posed as a request for a landmark, but I couldn’t resist a bit of license.
