Pregaming Summer

I heard a ridiculous ad on the radio where they were proclaiming that they were going to PREGAME MY SUMMER.

That’s called SPRING folks, it already HAS a name.

Regardless of that, my pool is full and I’m ready for it all. Continue reading

Moral Hazard

Moral Hazard: Taking risks when one is protected from the consequences.

You simply must have the Gingerfish “Birdy” pose set to tell this Administration exactly what you think of them.

Moral hazard is increasingly commonplace. Moral hazard happens when people make decisions that involve risk while they are protected from the risk. Gambling with other people’s money is a moral hazard. So is gambling with other people’s lives. Susan Sarandon’s glib disregard for the lives of immigrants, the poor, people who might lose health insurance and people of color when she encouraged risking a Trump presidency to “heighten the contradictions” is an example of moral hazard. She’s a white woman who won’t be deported or be killed by the police because she forgot to use her turn signal. She’s wealthy and can buy the latest AR-15 rifles and does not risk homelessness or loss of health insurance. It was easy for her to contemplate disaster because other people lose, not her.

Moral Hazard: Taking risks when one is protected from the consequences.

Fashion and politics go together…and always have.

The recent bill repealing the ACA that Congressional Republicans passed without one vote to spare is an example of moral hazard. They exempted their health insurance coverage from the provisions that strip protections from the American people. There is no clearer example of moral hazard than that. Their bill brings back lifetime limits and pre-existing condition exclusions by allowing states to opt out of national standards. Of course, states with poor quality state government will immediately rush to opt out. People living in states with good government are not safe, though, because their repeal encourages a race to the bottom by allowing insurance to be sold across state lines so states who are in the pockets of the insurance companies like Georgia and Alabama can allow worthless insurance to be sold to employers in states who attempt to protect their people from predatory corrupt insurance companies like Golden Rule.

Moral Hazard: Taking risks when one is protected from the consequences.

The Exile Drive ponytail is full of life, unlike the American people if Trump destroys our health care system.

I am hoping some of you might be inspired to tell the Trump Admin what you think using your avatars and post your pictures to Avatars Against TrumpContinue reading

Just Because

“To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.”

Just because you think you’re so pretty,
And just because you think you’re so hot,
Well, just because you think you’ve got something
That no other girl has got,

I love Just Because clothing, not only because the textures are well-done and the mesh is perfectly rigged, because it reminds me of one of my favorite albums as a kid. It belonged to my parents and I played it over and over and over. One of the songs was Just Because.

Pretty Belleza

When Belleza releases a new skin it’s always been a reason for me to take note. I’ve been a fan a long time of the elegant and understated looks offered by this brand. Elegant without being overpowering, Erin is another one in the WIN column from Belleza in my opinion. Continue reading

Bringing Color and Wonder

I looked across the lake and found that Cajsa has tinted a new house from Barnesworth Anubis that you can pick up at Collabor88 to a striking RED color. I’m so in love with it that I’m envious I didn’t think of it myself.

It was rather lovely to wake up to, I have to admit. Continue reading

Rescued

“Some old-fashioned things like fresh air and sunshine are hard to beat.”

My great-niece recently rescued a couple horses from a kill pen, the third generation of horse rescuers in my family. Kill pen horses are usually sold for pet food because they are considered problematic, untrainable, vicious and dangerous. They usually require a level of training most people just will not invest. In time, though, they can learn to trust and be trusted. If you want to see the evidence, see my great-grand niece cleaning this rescued horse’s hooves just two weeks into training…and the foundations for a fourth generation of rescuers begins. It was thinking about them, the work they are doing, and that two other nieces are doing, that I thought I might take this month’s house from Barnesworth for Collabor88 and set up a farm. I tinted it, one of the things I love about Barnesworth homes.

It’s Getting Hot

I decided the perfect way to start my week this Monday was to take a dip in my pool. Most people might wait until Memorial Day in the states to christen the pool but I figure my pool is exempt from such provincial traditions.

I’m sporting a new bathing suit, and I can never have enough of them. This one is actually FREE if you join the Boom Clothing company VIP group – WHICH INCREDIBLY is also free to join. Aranel Ah is back in SL full force and she’s released this as a little teaser to get you come check out her goods! I suggest you do so! Continue reading

I’ve Hired Out My Cleaning

Well despite having a weak spot for fun cleaning accessories, I was reminded that I have this delightful vacuum from my friend Kitty and decided to PUT IT TO WORK today. After all, I’ve got quite a bit to get done and I can’t be worrying about sweeping. Get to work kitty! Continue reading

She turned to the sunlight and shook her yellow head, and whispered to her neighbor: “Winter is dead.”

“She turned to the sunlight And shook her yellow head, And whispered to her neighbor: "Winter is dead.”I don’t even remember when I purchased Filter Forge®, the popular third-party companion to PhotoShop® that lets you apply fancy filters to your photos. It was long ago, maybe 2008 or 2009. Anyway, I don’t even use PhotoShop anymore as my laptop has no CD/DVD drive to allow me to install it. With materials, shadows, mesh bodies, and all the other controls we have over our raw shots, there’s no real need for PhotoShop either, except for the super fancy portraits with painted hair and so on. I still use Filter Forge from time to time for the fun of it. I just open photos directly in the software. Anyway, it’s 80% off today so I thought I would play with it and let you all know that it’s deeply discounted. Please note, that is an ordinary link with no clever code that gives me some compensation for promoting their software. I just have the basic package, the cheapest one, and it has everything I need. I don’t need to do pictures bigger than 3000 by 3000, so it’s enough for me. The filter I am using today is Retro Imaging. All the filters are free, you only buy the software. Update: By the way, don’t get stressed by the discount ending today. They run a deep discount several times a year, so if you don’t do it today, you will get another chance in the next few months.

“She turned to the sunlight And shook her yellow head, And whispered to her neighbor: "Winter is dead.”I am wearing an adorable dress and jacket from Decoy. It has a color change HUD with all sorts of options in prints and solids for the dress and matching solid colors for the jacket. The prints are inspired by Collabor88’s Greenery theme and if you get the big pack, there are some exclusive very bright, bold saturated color prints as well. That was not my mood this morning when I was snapping pictures so I went for the pastels, dreamy prints, probably because it was 3 AM and I was taking pics before I went to sleep.
