I was going to do this super complicated post with this dress, as I really loved the colours. I figured I could do all sorts of things. I can make a magical half dragon, half human princess who hoards jewels.
I went off and did my daily things, shopped a wee bit, got so many compliments on this simple styling, that I said, hey, why not just blog it this way, people seem to think it works. What probably threw me off was the normality of it.
If ever I do become a magical dragon/human half-breed jewel hoarding princess, I will let you know.

I made a mistake in my last post — I said my photos were of the sim Oubliette when actually they’re of the sister sim Ode, slightly up the hill and over the dells. Oops! To make up for it, I visited Oubliette properly today, and despite Saiyge’s big sign that says “O hai I’m tearing up the sim again,” it was still lovely, of course. Maybe especially so when it’s fraying around the edges, because rebuilding captures forgotten decay so well.
By the way! Miss Hybie of It’s Only Fashion actually runs a lovely travel blog called Avatars in Motion. If you like landscapes and poking curiously around the grid, go check out hers. It’s inspirational, truly!
Oh right, fashion. I’m also wearing a lovely new skin from Plastik, as well as ears to match and horns and face jewelry. I always love Aikea’s skins, and the colors of these are great (those violet tones especially, although I’m not wearing it today).

The monthly events faMESHed and Collabor88 always come through with something wonderful For example, from faMESHed there is this gorgeous dress from NYU. The bodice is particularly lovely making its name “Bodice Dress” so appropriate.
The designers are setting up and it’s a mad dash to be open for the grand birthday celebration of Collabor88. It’s a guaranteed event of the first order, and all your favorites and lots of great guests are lining up to bring you things you need and things you want and things you’ll want to need. One night on plurk I saw a post asking if anyone would like to do some crossdressing Supernatural cosplay, and I said sure why not. That is how I became Rufus, a wily grump haunted by his own horrid hunter’s past.
I choose this shot out of many simply because it was a different view than what some of the others took.

The Giulia dress from Baistice for Love Donna Flora is elegance personified. Sissy Pessoa does such a fabulous job with making textures that hug the body and catch the light. She finds beauty and elegance in simplicity, stark and unembellished. I added gorgeous scarlet silk gloves from 5th & Oxford.

Yesterday i went to the Fantasy Gatcha Festival, and immediately got sucked in. It’s not that the place is just my avatar’s style so much as that it has excellent stuff. I mean, the horn gatcha alone made me stand around obsessively feeding it L until I got this pretty set of rare horns. I don’t want to go back and complete a few gatchas, but I think I might have to…
I put on this wash of fairy kei-colored clothing (the Katat0nik skirt is perfect fairy kei style) and headed to Oubliette to photo. This sim is ridiculously nice on a good computer, and even then bits of it wander in and out of rez because it’s so dense and pretty. It looks to be going through a bit of renovation, but despite that, the fields and grottos are always magical. I’ll probably spend the week here trying to capture the magic I see in the sim. I know why I love Squinternet Larnia. I love her because whenever I found a sim that was cool and I wanted to share it with someone, she dropped everything to come look. I love her because she was always ready to come dancing or exploring. I love her because she always asked how I was doing and wanted an honest answer, not a glib okay. I love her because she is funny, quirky and stubborn. I am really counting on that stubborn nature now.
But why do we love Donna Flora? I suppose it could be because she is a generous and charitable creator who was there with her support for every event and charity that asked. I suppose it could be longevity. It could be her skill, the ability to make things that look and fit well. However, I think it’s more to do with how her wild and creative designs speak to our hearts. Seriously, if you told me there was a dress with pink satin, black tulle covered with giant pink peonies and big, gold flowers, I would roll my eyes and laugh at the idea. But then, take a look at this dress. It is exactly that and should be a hot mess of kitsch and instead it a hot melange of romance and glamour. It is pure genius. And with genius, we have two choices, love it or hate it? And we love it.
I went to the Chinese Bamboo Garden sim today to rest my mind. It’s been a contemplative Sunday, full of yard work and lying around with my iPad, and as a small observance of the Day of Rest, I thought I’d zen out for a moment. I really dig this little sim. It has a few places to lie beneath the bamboo trees, and nothing at all to do but watch the shadows of birds flit across the papery sky.
There’s Acha with her enormous /artilleri/ Lumoflex, ready to record every peaceful moment. That reminds me to pick up a few more cameras in Second Life, now that my second Second Life career as a travel photographer is keeping me so occupied… More photos and the outfit credits are behind the cut!
