No One Else Leaves Or The MerKitten Gets It

In the past week I’ve had three deaths around the edges of my life, 2 in SL and 1 in the RL. I’ve had it.

Cajsa nailed it. It’s not a game if it makes you cry. Both of the people who died this week were not my besties. We didn’t talk “all the time”, we didn’t share secrets. But they were people who I took for granted, so my rage and grief is based in ego because I’m feeling sorry for myself that I didn’t value these people more. It’s causing me to evaluate myself, and wish I could do more for those who truly lost something, for those whose grief isn’t based in ego but in loss – some of whom are people I care about so very much in both lives.  Continue reading →

Friday Flowers

You might think Sascha’s Designs is just big old battleship sized ballgowns but you’d be missing out on a large part of what she releases these days if you did. She’s been making dresses and more casual wear (less formal?) for a while and she very frequently delights me with her releases. Such as this cheery dress recently released. I like the accoutrement that completes my SL, little touches here and there. I’ve just added a BIG touch – a BIG honking car. I’ve always been a fan of cars in my SL – my avatar has places to go, she can’t be expected to bike and scooter everywhere can she? She’s American – so she LIKES a big car. This new beast from HAN fit the bill and there’s room in the back for a car seat should I ever bring the baby back from Auntie Inventory. I could pile all sorts of friends in this beast! Show Me The Hair That Stole Your Heart

Once upon a time there was a girl who was a blogger who wasn’t very experienced. She wasn’t jaded, she didn’t eyeroll at things that had been done 100 times. She didn’t log in and log out after getting her photos, she spent time and enjoyed her SL.  Her SL wasn’t silent, her SL was full of friends, not just acquaintances she didn’t talk to much.

This is about that girl.

That girl fell in LOVE with a hair that Gogo blogged and she HAD to have it.  I would link to Gogo’s post but knowing that dork, she probably purges old pics because she thinks they look dated. Regardless, it was there once. What was the hair? It was this.

This was literally one of my Happiest Hair Fair Memories – seeing this hair, and having the Lindens to go buy it.

I would love to see in comments or on plurk  the hair that for you, has a happy HAIR FAIR memory. Hair Fair isn’t just an event – it’s a celebration.

Helena Stringer doesn’t like normal. In fact, I’d say she’s one of those people who believe normal isn’t healthy which I heartily agree with. I like it different, despite the fact that I normally rock a blonde haired blue eyed blogger girl, that’s a lazy comfort zone for me.

Hair Fair is where I often find myself taking a step outside of that comfort zone , and The String Mausoleum is very often where I find that reality come to life.

Let’s Get It Started In HAIR…(See what I Did There?)

So HAIR FAIR 2015 is going to be kicking off in TWO DAYS! That’s RIGHT TWO DAYS OMG ARE YOU READY?!! This is the big one, the one annual event that curls my toes and melts my butter. This is the one. Ok wait, Shoe Fair does too. Ok THIS IS ONE OF TWO….ok wait…

Nevermind. You get the point.  One of the great things I personally love in SL is the easy with which we can style our hair, in various styles of the same shade or simply be ALL OVER THE PLACE – whatever suits our fancy. Hair Fair is a cornucopia of opportunity to be creative with our look and a portion of EVERY purchase this year goes to WIGS for KIDS which is a great organization.

So what’s the BEST way to get ready? 1. Join the Demo group. Events can be a nightmare to shop when they’re jammed and being part of the demo group lets you try on EVERYTHING before you go, so you can make your shopping list after having properly tried everything on. Go And See My Love

So there is this movie I LOVE that you haven’t seen. I saw it in Kansas City, at a random mall theater when I was 20. You see, I had traveled there to attend the Drum Corps International world championship, with a group of friends – most of whom were 21. What this meant was that when night fell after the event, part of us went to the bars, and part of us wondered wtf we were supposed to DO for the rest of the evening.

We wandered into a local mall and walked int the first movie that was playing. It was called THE BIG BLUE. It’s a story about a man who is more than a man, or perhaps less. It’s about friendship, and love, and jealousy, and the complexity of being part of the world where sometimes things don’t make sense.  It makes me cry, and it’s beautiful. Continue reading →
