There are some things in SL that just strike my fancy.  The dress form is one of them. I love dress forms.  I love that creators are whimsical enough to create dress forms.  This month has seen an abundance of them.  Allegory Malaprop of Schadenfreude and Julliette Westerburg of Tres Blah both released dress forms as part of their Arcade Gacha items. Sienia Trevellion of Lark also released a lovely dress form and I pulled an older version that I’m particularly fond of out of my inventory, one by Theosophy’s Trace Osterham.

“A dress form is a three-dimensional shape used for sewing or displaying clothing. Dressmakers use dress forms to work with garment pieces to construct a clothing item of a specific size, while fashion merchandisers or designers may display finished garments on a dress form rather than on a full-size mannequin.”

“The history of dress forms goes way back, to thousands of years ago when royalty used them so that they could have outfits designed and look at them prior to wearing the clothes. This was so that the very important people in society could know in advance what they would look like before wearing an item of clothing. This was done by both men and women, but usually the highest class and most wealthy individuals who could afford to have personal designers and dress makers handy.”

Not a practical item, so much whimsy to be had, and you don’t have to be royalty to own them!  I was inspired to pose with my dress forms, and I shall use them to decorate my SL bedroom! In these photos are a couple of other things I must note.  First off, the skin I’m wearing is from Adam &Eve, the Carolyn skin.  Honestly, I’d have to pose buck naked to really give you the full effect; this skin has one of the most beautiful bodies I’ve ever seen on a skin. The fact that I can add dimples to the face tickles me pink.  Secondly, I went thru hell to obtain the Wasabi Pills hair in the RARE ash color.  Well if hell can be described as scouring yard sales to find the color and paying $300L to get it! I also tried my luck at the Arcade Gacha, but only managed to get every rare but the one I wanted! Wasabi Pills is my favorite hair at the moment, because there’s a feeling of yes, whimsy, in all her designs I find particularly appealing.  Third, the dress is the Valentina.E. Angie dress that I picked up at Fameshed.  I love a mesh dress that fits well and moves so elegantly with my av. And lastly, my jewelry is Maxi Gossamer, a jewelry maker I really admire a lot.  See below for what I’m wearing.
