Audrey! Two syllables that conjure up visions of elegance and timeless grace. Does anyone even need the last name to know who Audrey is? Of course not. I think it’s a bold thing to name any design Audrey because there’s such a world of expectation and obligation that come along with the name.  I decided to do no editing whatsover in order to let you see how well that obligation is met.

This is Audrey for the 21st century – with fabulous laser cut fabric just released at the Première Vision fabric show in February. The fabric is sheer, with flirtatious glimpses of a thigh, a hint of torso, the outline of the body. What impressed me is that it’s not just sheer, it’s sheer and mesh.

Most mesh designers don’t have to deal with the avatar body anymore. They simply make an alpha that hides every bit of it that is covered by fabric. Sheer fabric meshes don’t have that option, but with creativity and determination, Iota Ultsch made it work. She has released this first dress preview of her upcoming 2012 Spring collection under her newly rebranded store name, simply Iota Ultsch. The dress comes in a rainbow of acid bright colors. She’s released it in 3 sizes and has an in-store demo for fitting.

The dress came with a pearl necklace in a witty bold color combination. With it, I added jewelry from Purple Moon and Kunglers. Then I added the fabulous hat/hair combination from The Strand that is currently on sale at The Deck’s My Attic discount showroom. The hat is so reminiscent of one worn by the original Audrey in a photo by Cecil Beaton. It’s texture change so you can wear it in the iconic black as well. Audrey was a woman of many hats – and this dress seemed to call out for a striking and bold choice.
