IRL my closet is well-organized. Dresses, blouses, skirts are in their sections and all sorted by color – a regular run of ROYGBIV rainbows. Shoes are on the rack. Purses stored in 4 marvelous IKEA shoe and sweater hanger storage shelves and scarves hung on rings on curtain rods on the wall. I try to do the same in Second Life with folders for blouses, dresses, etc. But then it all falls apart because I have one folder for my Review Copies. The thing is, if I put them into my regular inventory, I might forget they were review copies and not credit that in my style notes, so I drop them all in one mad, mad, mad, mad folder. I need a better system. Except, perhaps with a better system I would not have come up with this outfit that I put together by checking out items from stores I have not featured recently.
It all began with the French Affair mini dress from Digit Darkes. I saw that folder and thought, you know that dress would make such a nice top, I should do a post with that. Now I could have just worn any pair of jeans, but really hoped I could find something more interesting. Digging around, I found these pants from WoE and thought they were as perfect as could be – with the orange and teal actually being just slightly darker shades of the hues in the top. It’s winter, so I really didn’t want sleeveless, so looked for a sweater and found this stunning one from BOOM. And could there be a better match than those shoes from A-Bomb. I added the Leather and Laces belt from EarthStones – which is the best fitting belt there is- and I was really pleased with the look.
To top it off, my friend Faery Sola of Studio Sidhe had just given me some jewelry the night before – and they were perfect. The Quartz Crystal Earrings and Pendant are just ideal for a casual outfit. The hair, well that was not a review copy. I saw it on the feed and went into “gotta have it” mode because it’s so unusual and fun. It’s from Nouveau Miranda, a store that’s new to me. The store has some clothes and shoes for women and men, but surely it’s highlight is the hair and the sense of humor. Nouveau Miranda hair is all about the volume, so there are several (SEVERAL!) posters extolling the virtues of BigHair! Gidge will be in hair heaven.
I really like the League Kate skin for a casual look – there is such a fresh-faced confidence in this makeup.
