Aemilia Case lifted me out of my pity party at being snowed in and unable to spend Christmas with friends as planned by asking for volunteers for a photo shoot. Considering I had been actually contemplating watching an NCIS marathon, I jumped at the chance to be on the other side of the camera. For the shoot I was given this Mein Herr outfit by Shai Delacroix of Casa del Shai that she is releasing today.
Yes, Sally Bowles!!! and to make it even more fun, all of us were posing on the cabaret chairs made by Luth Brodie of Reel Expression. She will be releasing two 12-pose chairs and 12 standing poses so all of us can release our inner Sally and strut the stage and was kind enough to gift all of us posers with a set.
If you pay attention to the poses used, you might notice that I rely heavily on 4 main pose stores, Reel Expression, Boudoir Rouge, Long Awkward Pose and Annah Couture. They aren’t the only ones I use of course, but they are the ones I reach for first. It’s not just habit; it’s that they are extremely careful to avoid the torsion and intersections that are part of the obstacles of animating a mesh like ours. Look at this pose, now making this happen without intersections and tortured clothing takes care and skill. Because I was having so much fun, I shot all the poses. You can take a look at the set on my Flickr.
And let’s not forget the texture artistry of Shai Delacroix. One of the things I love about her work is that she pays attention to how clothes lay on the body. Thus, you see the stocking rise where they garters fasten and then curve down. No straight across stockings, but stockings that lay on the body the way they should.
Then there is the bodice – look at how soft that leather looks, like kid gloves. It has a strokable look to it.
Sally Bowles was not shy with the paint pot – so this shoot required a strong makeup. What could be better than the recently released Biba, for the Fleur Allure line.
Come taste the wine, Come hear the band.
Come blow your hornm Start celebrating;
Right this way your table’s waiting.
No use permitting some prophet of doom
To wipe every smile away. Come hear the music play.
Life is a cabaret, old chum. Come to the Cabaret.

*feels the sudden urge to watch the movie again, and maybe read the book, too, while she’s at it* – Great outfit, and needless to say, you look gorgeous in it.
It was fun to pose… but I won’t say anything else 😛
What a great blogentry and great pics. my respect 🙂
Did you make sure you were wearing green nail polish, like Liza as Sally Bowles? (Cabaret set a trend for a time in weird color nails.)
