Does the weather in your first life influence how you dress in Second Life®? It sure does for me. And I know that’s crazy, but it still does. However, I dressed in the chilly pre-dawn when it as 45° and now it’s 79° and I am melting. Why does a jacket on my avatar make me feel warmer in my first life? How silly is that?
I really wanted to wear this Edwardian Jacket from The Annex, though because of the cold I opted for a different approach than the ruffled hot pants that are designed to go with it. Besides, I wanted to show you how flexible it is.
I think if Hart Larsson of PXL Creations got 10 lindens every time I say, please make Lelutka Head appliers, he could buy a car. An SL car at the very least. But squeaky wheels get greased and lo and behold, so do squeaky mesh heads. It will be available at We ♥ Role-play until the end of April. The dress is floral confection from The Annex for A Secret Affair.
I relaxed for a bit outside the converted dovecote from Scarlet Creative where I have been living this last month. The furnishings are all to be found at Collabor88 and you better go rickety-split because I think tomorrow is your last chance before you will have to run from store to store. Items are from Aria & The Loft, Second Spaces, Soy and Scarlet Creative.
The Annex has released a new gown which is still seasonally perfect. A deep, plunging neckline swaddles you in a luxurious crushed velvet look. I can just imagine how heavy this gown would be. Continue reading →
Icy cold winds are blowing across our island, and I’ve got new snuggly pajamas and a new bed, I’m never getting up. I have no plans, no commitments today and I see no reason why I can’t exist in this space for the whole of the day. Do you? Continue reading →
“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”
We are so hard on ourselves. It seems a day does not pass that some friend or acquaintance says something harsh and critical of themselves. I do it myself. But really, with all our struggles and our challenges, why do we add to our burdens by turning on ourselves? After all, we are made of star-stuff and should shine as brightly as the stars we come from.
My typist took some time away and I used my free time to unpack some items in my new house. Honestly I admit, I didn’t mind being left alone, I had forgotten how many amazing kitchen items I own – I am going to end up having to make some hard choices as I can’t possible have them all out at once.
Cold breezes have started to flow across the little islet where I am now, and this coat dress from THE CHAPTER FOUR is perfect for cool days and colder nights.
But now that she’s back looks like I’m about to get back to work – shopping!
I hope everyone has had some amazing days! I’m baaaaaaaaaack!

I am reading The Culture of Make Believe by Derrick Jensen. I think I will have to just buy this book and return the copy I am reading to the library. Like Wendell Berry, Jensen’s book is too rich in subject matter to just read. It will be one I want to go back to again and again. I am reading it slowly, pausing after each conclusion or big idea to think. The underlying theme is that by viewing our world as an object to possess and exploit instead of seeing it as this living, breathing subject whose existence is vital, we become alienated from the world and all sorts of other ills are natural consequences of treating everything as an object to own. The writing is beautiful and powerful and full of ideas that I want to remember. He wrote that ““we have a need for enchantment that is as deep and devoted as our need for food and water.”
I think this is true. Wonder and awe are thinks we yearn for and they are most often found outdoors in the natural world.
There is wonder, too, in Second Life®, at the beautiful worlds and stunning landscapes of our virtual world. It is less powerful, but no less real. There is no fresh, brisk breeze with the restorative power of fresh air, but there is the calm and soothing joy of beauty. Take a walk at The Trace Too and the sights and sounds will entrance you. Now if only they could produce virtual fresh air. Continue reading →
