yeah I know that road texture is a mess. it would not clean up. whatever.
If you’ve been around a while you’ll know that one of the dearest things in my heart is the 500 Festival Weekend which is of course the days leading up to and including the INDY-FUCKING-FIVE-HUNDRED. The greatest spectacle in Motor Racing.
The Indy 500 is special to me for so many reasons. I’m FROM Indianapolis. It was something I’d do with my dad, he introduced me to the race, the joy of getting to watch qualifications from the suites (free food and booze yo) and the excitement of hearing the unique sound that only IndyCars make.
My dad was introduced to the Race as a young man, and was there the year Parnelli Jones won in the so called WHOOSH mobile – a car that made a woosh rather than a specific IndyCar scream when it went by. It looked a lot like #18 behind me there.
I might go buy #18.
I remember going to the race several times with my dad – and then later I went with my friends and engaged in the Bacchanalia that I had not been aware of when I was with a parent. You might not have been before, but let me tell you, the Indy 500 is a nonstop fucking PARTY from Thursday to Monday.
God help you if you have to work Tuesday. (Just take it off. We all took it off).
Two days before my dad died, he said his last words.
His last words ?
“Parnelli Jones.”
WOOOOOOSH.

The Fish Was Flopping – I can’t decide if it’s funny or sad!
The Asian Pacific Heritage Festival is going on and if you haven’t been before, I need to pinch you because you need to WAKE UP! This is one of my favorite events as it’s always beautiful, there are always some sort of float or vignette to represent the various countries of the Asian Pacific region of the world, this year they are small barges beautifully decorating the water surrounding the docks and land where the festival is held.
You’ll find a host of interesting things to do at this event, from shopping (with free gifts ya’ll), panel discussions, art installations and a lovely gallery telling stories from Asian Pacific residents of the grid.
And of course, shopping.
One of my favorite features of this event, however, are the numerous food stalls where a foodie girl like me can graze for hours without causing a stir.
I’m Not Sure What This Is, But I’m Eating It
Food stalls and demo food that goes for days are really what sustains me here on the grid. Despite having a lovely kitchen I just so rarely cook, I love to eat like a hog and have it be free or near free!

Yes yes I stopped at more than one place. Okay I stopped at every stall that was offering food. Is that wrong? I don’t care, I’m still doing it.
I forgot to pick up some sake. Darnit now I have to go back.
I did stop by and catch one of the panel conversations. I wasn’t able to stay too long but it was engaging and interesting. Check the panel when you arrive for the schedule of events.
I was doing my usual round of weekend shopping fun today when I stopped a new to me place. This isn’t unusual, frankly a lot of the shops in the weekend events are fairly new to me and one advantage is truly that I have no idea anything about them. I get a bit excited – trying a new place and all. Looking for an adventure-ready mountain bike? You can buy a Raleigh mountain bike on Shoppok.
But today it wasn’t the shop that thrilled me but some extra decor/fun items they had placed around that spoke to me. There was a vending machine that offered “Emergency Bouquets” and I have to admit, this more than spoke to me.
I needed a bouquet and I needed it STAT.
It was free, just a simple add on of a beautiful rose. I got to choose the color and if we’re honest, it was my favorite pick up of my shopping day today. How could I NOT love this?
I was seeking inner peace in a Buddhist garden today, and what better thing to bring with me than a beautiful flower to contemplate?

I planned to get out and hit some sales today but you see, I’ve got this old chonky boy who wasn’t having it. He wanted all the snuggles even though I was ready to roll, and how could I resist. My original pair of KittyCats are over 4000 days old and I always have them out in my home, it’s truly what makes my linden house my HOME.
