The Hydrangea God Surveys His Minions

150502_003

From the bottom of the garden, enthroned in his earthenware pot,
the hydrangea god surveys his minions— Rosanna Warren (listen here)

Who does not love hydrangeas? They blossom with such abundance and generosity, their palette of colors at once delicate and wild. Oregon is awash in hydrangeas and their leaves are budding now. I thought I had seen every color of hydrangea until I saw this gown from Gizza with the black umbels of hydrangea. Now I know all about adding or subtracting aluminum phosphate to make soil more or less acidic or alkali to change hydrangea color, but how did they get black. I turned to Professor Google and learned they simply paint the umbels. However, the effort pays off with a gorgeous drape of hydrangeas for the neck and headpiece that accompany this gorgeous gown.

Serendipity shows her face again. These bracers from MiaMai for We <3 Role Play were in the same grouping of notices waiting for me when I logged in. They were sent with a few hours of each other. Now some might thing they are rough-hewn in contrast to the delicacy of the dress, but contrasts between hard and soft can be exciting and the silver petals on the braces are reminiscent of the hydrangea petals.

Pretty In Punk

150501_001

There are a few more shopping days left of the Pretty In Punk round of Collabor88 and you won’t want to miss it. Look at this gorgeous dress from ISON for this round. It comes in several solid colors and well as two plaids and these gorgeous stripes. I love ISON’s contemporary style, minimalist and fashion forward with just a few details that reflect the designer’s discipline. You will never hear Nina say “it’s over-designed” about anything from ISON because the designer in control.

One Hunt, Three Heads and a Big Skin Sale

150426_002

I love the adorable floral blouse and skater skirt that NYU just released for the Wayward Hunt. You will have to hunt for it at the main store because this color will not be sold after the hunt is over. I always love separates because that gives me options to wear the pieces with other items.

I stopped by the beach at Terracotta but I did not wade in as I have new shoes from Ingenue (available at this month’s Collabor88 for now) and wanted to keep them dry.

Bloom

150423_005

The bright yellow linen pants from Faster Pussycat and the loose white button-down shirt from erratic were a simple, but colorful outfit that hopefully is not lost in the colorful profusion of prints at Blossom the texture explosion at LEA22.

Taxi!

150422_003

I stopped by XIN, a sim I found in the Destination Guide. It’s a seedy urban sim,  just what I was looking for to complement the punk out fit from Emery for Collabor88.  The outfit features a sleeveless tank dress and a jean jacket with knit sleeves.

Balloons

150419_004

I like everything I wear for my blog, but every once in a while an outfit will strike a special chord and make me feel extraordinary. Azul’s Abigail for Black Fashion Fair is such a dress. With all the bare skin, it was critical that it fit perfectly since I could not use alphas to block any of the bodice in the mesh top, not with such exposure on the side. As you can see, the fit was perfect and I got a lot of compliments on it when I wore it for my set this morning.

Rockabilly Red

150418_004

The theme for this month at Genre is Rockabilly and Fission’s Paula dress is pure Rockabilly. It comes in black, pink, blue and red and of course, I had to go with Rockabilly Red.

Don’t Worry, Be Happy

150416_003

NYU’s tapered pants and vested shirt are two separate pieces available at Xiasumi School. The top has a HUD allowing you to choose between six colors for the shirt. The pants come in two versions, one to wear with this vested top and the other to wear with other items. They come in several colors. I chose to wear black with the pinstripe, instead of matching exactly.

I do not worry very much. Worry does not prevent mishaps or change outcomes; at least not for the better. It can only make things worse, distracting us from getting things done, making our minds race with one fret after another. The heroic Corrie Ten Boom had this to say about worry, “Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow; it robs today of its strength.”

Fashion For Change

150411_003

Fashion For Change opened yesterday – a fundraising event to raise money for Womankind Worldwide, an organization working to challenge discrimination against women around the world and to increase women’s participation and voice in the policies that affect their lives. Fashion For Change runs from April 11th through the 25th and several of my favorite stores are participating including Azul. This dress is an exclusive for Fashion For Change and was created with options to change it up. Here I am wearing it without the overskirt.
