The Faces of PXL MIA

I sat down to play with PXL Creations MIA this morning. There are so many little tweaks available for the face I had to try some out. Fun eyebrows are one of my favorite things.  As you can see she goes easily from an everyday beautiful to a sad clown really easily. Versatility is a good thing.

If you want to be a sad clown, that is! My favorite is this pink lipstick, I covet it for real life. Have you tried this skin out yet? It’s at UBER, you need to stop by and give it a demo if you’re looking for something new.

It’s a quickie for me today. Hope your Wednesday is as beautiful as you are girls !

Portrait of the Artist

141102_006

The Reach Sketchbook set comes with 9 sits, 3 stands and 1 sequence for the model. when you choose an option, the sketch on the easel changes to reflect your new pose. You can also get a copy of the sketch to hang on your wall.

I found this amazing furniture at ReAct the other day, a lounge with an artist’s easel and chair. I asked Gogo if she new any artists who might be interested in sketching my portrait and she suggested Spyder Silverfall. Sure enough, he was willing to do my portrait, so I posed for him. As you can see, the sketch progressed quickly.

While he was sketching, I snuck a snap of him. He was quite fashionable in his black shirt and pants with the kneepads. His hair was styled by Tableau Vivant and is a good look on him . Continue reading

All About that Bass

1016_004

I do not pay a lot of attention to the Hot 100 as most of the songs recently seem to have Idol-itis – overproduced and full of melisma. However, someone on plurk mentioned having All About that Bass stuck in her head so I was curious and listened to it. I was surprised by its retro doo woo sound and was happy that such a positive body image song was leading the charts. Pop music popularity is dominated by the tweens, so the song’s popularity makes me optimistic about “kids today.”

Such Spoopy * Much Versatile * So Romance

141009

Today I am wearing a versatile dress from Tee*fy. I love that it has options for the bodice. You
can wear the dress with the spaghetti straps alone or, as I did, add the optional harness. There are also lace cap sleeves you can add that slide right under the straps for a touch of romance. It has a fitted bodice with a mesh midriff. Christian Siriano says mesh is “done” but not if it looks as good as this. It is a great take on the Hotel Spoopy theme for October’s Collabor88.

Is an Aardvark an Anteater?

I don’t know. I used to think they were. Now I think I’m wrong. But I don’t know I’m wrong. What I do know is that Mutresse has anteaters at THE ARCADE. Mine likes to do fashion shoots with me. What a versatile creature.  She’s only a few accessories away from fashion blogger, I swear. Continue reading

Unpacked

The move is complete, the bags and boxes unpacked and I have settled into a chair to take a last look before crawling into bed.

The nice thing about moving in Second Life is that one does not have to look the part.  I am wearing a mini-dress from 1992 that is the ne plus ultra of hot, sexy modernity. It’s revealing, edgy and definitely “designed” but not at all over-designed. It comes in a solid beige, a solid black or this print – and all can be found at The Dressing Room.

She Does Saucy Surreal Science by the Seaside

0524_009

I had some fun over at SAUCE, the new installation at LEA 25. The LEA sims are provided by the Linden Endowment for the Arts to allow artists a chance to create big installations to share with the SL community. SAUCE is an installation from Maya Paris and it is a fun, colorful, and surreal place to explore.

I was ready for anything in this fun outfit featuring two items from Baiastice. The skirt was released at Collabor88 this month and the top is from 2013. The skirt was released with two coordinating tops, but I thought it would be fun to find something different to wear with it. Generally speaking, if items are made by the same designer, they will be the same size and have the same natural waist and so on, so when looking for something to coordinate with mesh clothes, it’s easiest to start with the same designer. The skirt is adorable and comes in a range of prints and solids.

Do These Glasses Make Me Look Smart?

The glasses and necklaces from YUMMY this round of COLLABOR88 are rocking my socks, nearly as much as anything else.  It’s difficult when one of your favorite styles in SL is all around you, to choose which thing you like best. So I won’t choose. I love the hair, I love the skin, I love the decor, I just LOVE it all.

That’s unusual. Some bloggers rave how much they love everything and while I don’t blog things I dislike, I don’t always LOVE everything anywhere. Even events I really enjoy, there are often pieces I think, eh, not me.  Continue reading

Bacteria Free Second Life

0404_003A cold has been kicking my butt for six weeks now. I think it is almost gone and BAM! it’s back stronger than ever. That makes me so grateful for the relatively bacteria-free world of Second Life. You can get a cold in Second Life, but you have to buy it and you can take it off the minute you are sick of sneezing. I was sick of sneezing about a month ago and would love to detach that gesture right this minute.

Meanwhile, the lovely cardigan dress from Gizza is keeping me warm. I added the pencil skirt from League because the dress was a tad short for my taste. The dress comes with a HUD that allows you to change both the dress and the cardigan with three options each. Gizza made this dress in 4 iterations, floral, boho, hippie and solids and each and every one is irresistible.  Continue reading

Industrial Chic

Leather Sleeve Pullover from House of Fox – Color.Me.H.O.F at Collabor88

It makes sense that Industrial Chic has come back into fashion in this age of economic insecurity with the middle class fading into the working class. The fashions are a form of solidarity with labor – the use of metals, the hard and soft fabrics, the utilitarian forms and simple silhouettes all avoid blinged out conspicuous consumption in favor of working class colors and practicality. But it’s chic, so there are details that elevate it from banality, details like the inset leather sleeves in this top from House of Fox.
