I sat down yesterday to make amends of the skins I hadn’t done yet for SKIN FAIR and omg I didn’t have half of what my offlines says were sent to me. I panicked. Because as a blogger, I feel an obligation if it’s sent to me and it’s not crap, I should share it with you.

One of my favorite groups back “in the day” was Bettina Tizzy’s Not Possible in Real Life (NPiRL). Tizzy gloried in the freedom of Second Life® creation – unshackled from the laws of Euclid and Newton – free to create anything they could imagine. Of course, Second Life has its own laws that result in some things common in real life becoming Not Possible in Second Life. Something quite simple in real life can become very complicated, even impossible, in Second life. One of those things is fringe.
Fringe is one of the fall’s hot fashion trends and promises to be an even hotter item in the spring. However, the physics of SL are not fringe-friendly. Of course, we could have flexi-fringe, but after two years of not having our clothes fall through our bodies, I think that is not the solution we want. We know from reports that flexi-mesh is not even under consideration right now. So I am excited to see Sunami Beck of Emery look for a work around. It’s not perfect, perfect is impossible, but it is a valiant effort that works pretty well overall. This fringe dress is a la page fashion – and it looks great. Most of our friends are not our friends; they are acquaintances, contacts, colleagues and associates. However, in social media, we lump the people on our mobilization phone trees together with those for whom we would give up a kidney. The act of reading each others timelines foster that sense of shared intimacy that is the hallmark of real friendship. The boundaries blur and sometimes we invest more emotionally in those who are merely ships passing by, mistaking acquaintanceship for friendship. More than one person has been devastated recently by opinions of “friends” they have mistaken for friends.
However true friendship requires more than knowing the name of my cat or my political persuasion. Friendship is an investment in trust and intimacy. We share our best selves with our “friends” and share our flaws with our friends. You know someone is your friend when you know you can safely confess some petty, spiteful thoughts and feeling, secure that your friendship will not falter. That is why the opinions of “friends” should be taken lightly. They know of us. They know about us. They do not know us.
Avatars need to sleep in too. It’s busy work shopping and getting dressed, and going shopping again. Taking pictures too, and blogging, these things all make a weekend a well deserved break for a pixel girl. I changed the texture on my bed from Ispachi. I love this bed. Continue reading

Our Avatars will never get breast cancer. Our breasts and bodies will never be ravaged by disease of any sort. We have the luxury of being perfect every day, no matter what.
But our Avatars can remind our real selves of things that we want, things we can aspire to, and things that are IMPORTANT.
A very small thing is a monthly breast exam. Early detection is the key. More women than I care to think of that I care about have endured this battle, and for some it did not end in their favor.
I’ve promised Cajsa I’d made something to promote Breast Self Exams for some time, but life gets in the way. Just like not checking your breast for lumps, life gets in the way, you forget to do it.
Today is the one year anniversary of the day that we lost a brillant creator, and a lovely friend, to cancer. Her journey began with breast cancer. I still miss her and her amazing wit, and her startling timeless designs.

Hair Fair opens tomorrow. While DJing the opening party, I hunted far and wide stalking the wild hair, the short hair, the curly hair, the long, straight, curly, fuzzy, naggy, shaggy, ratty, natty, oily, greasy, fleecy, shining, gleaming, streaming, flaxen, waxen, knotted, polka-dotted, twisted, beaded, braided, powdered, flowered, and confettied, bangled, tangled, spangled, and spaghettied!
Since joining Second Life®, I have never missed Hair Fair and have to say this is my favorite build. The build is just a whole lot of hair product and I cracked up when I sounded out the name of the product. The stores are inside the product boxes and the creativity of the designers in decorating the boxes is another part of the fun of Hair Fair. Continue reading
