Old Italy

Corduroy usually looks so casual, but Mimikri has sure dressed up corduroy with this Fritzi skirt. The wonderful floral embroidery is gorgeous and the coordinating top dresses it up as well by adding full sleeves and a bow.

Looking for a place to shoot, I stumbled upon Old Italy where I had a blast wandering the narrow streets.

I added the Maitreya Allure tights and shoes while posing in front of a bright yellow house overlooking the sea.

Both hair and jewelry are from Mouse Mimistrobell of Dark Mouse. I often wonder why Mouse is not counted in that top tier of designers who are lauded in magazines and on SL promotional pages because she is one of those consistently excellent creators who really deserve to be fashion stars. Why? I am glad you asked. She is one of the few jewelers who always includes spine and chest attachment versions of her necklaces. She produces her items in three metals, copper, gold and silver and not one has a cheap brassy tone. Her items are modifiable, giving you the ability to adjust them perfectly. The designs are impeccable, with amazing details. She produces jewelry that is both vintage and modern, simple and complex and subtle and showy. I know jewelers do not get the same attention that clothing designers get, but let’s acknowledge that she really is an outstanding jeweler. Oh, and then, when she decided to start doing hair, look at the wonderful colors and hair styles she makes. Yes, put her star on the fashion hall of fame – make her put her handprints on the sidewalk or something.

The skin is Marina – from Baiastice. And it’s lovely. I never quite caught up during Skin Fair and didn’t get to the Baiastice skin. I have to confess that it was a daunting proposition because Sissy Pessoa obviously does not sleep, eat or perform any of the other functions of daily living that would take her away from her work. You see, it’s not just the skins, it’s the makeups. Seven tones with eleven makeups are just the beginning. Then there are the four hairbases as well as cleavage and pubic options. And then the makeup tattoos which is where I started to feel faint. Sixty lipsticks, fifty eye shadows, twelve blushes, eyeliners, lashes, teeth and eyebrows. Oh my! You could make eleventy gajillion combinations out of this. All I could say was Uffda!
