Midori

Pink isn't just a color, it's an attitude

When I saw the Tentacio kimono outfit for The Arcade was named Midory, I had to try it. When I was in college, one of my friends was a student from Japan named Midori. Midori and Midory are the same, when languages written in other alphabets are written in our alphabet, the transliteration may vary. She came home with me for Thanksgiving and Christmas and I remember we put on quite the feast with steamed cucumbers stuffed with pork, gyoza, tempura, and other tasty foods. She had a few kimonos and insisted on dressing me up in one of hers. It was very fancy and after she wrapped that obi around my waist again and again and again, I thought I would never need a jacket. So here’s to Midori, who, to be honest, I cannot imagine ever wearing anything so short as this dress that bears her name.

The In Between

My first thought today was to find some sort of horrible St Patrick’s Day nightmare and blog it as though I thought it were fitting.

But hell I’ve done that for almost a decade so I decide nah, let it go finally. I mean it’s not like Shamrock Pasties and butt plugs are in short supply on Marketplace, if one is so inclined.  Yet I just wasn’t feeling it.

I guess I’m just in a “Let me stand in front of this giant bear holding an umbrella” sort of mood. What can I say? Continue reading

She Sells Sea Shells at The Arcade

“Everybody needs a seashell in her bathroom to remind her the ocean is her home.”

22769 has a beautiful conch shell in their “Fisherman’s Delight” gacha at The Arcade. They have two great gachas there, one for picnickers and one for fishing fans. I was thrilled to find it because the oldest family heirloom in my family is a large conch shell. My seventh great-grandfather picked it up on the beach almost 370 years ago while on his honeymoon in Barbados in 1649. It has been passed down ever since and my cousin, being the eldest son of the eldest son, has it in his living room on a buffet similar to this one from Fancy Decor (another Arcade find.)

New from NYU, but only available until the 25th.

"Vertigo is the conflict between the fear of falling and the desire to fall.”NyuNyu Moon has this lovely qipao (cheongsam) at Kurenai. It comes in eight options, this brocade in red and black, plus six pastel and vibrant florals. This is exclusive to Kurenai which ends tomorrow, so if you don’t rush over there now, you won’t get another chance. Of course, many people make cheongsam’s but few have the excellent rigging and quality construction of NYU.

11 Years and Counting

My eleventh rezz day came and I had no plans. I wasn’t even bothered by this, but when I was surprised with a shopping trip to the Frou Frou event I have to admit, I was fairly tickled.  Sasy took me around and we pondered if her buying me this much lingerie meant she was my GF.

Probably so.

After a ridiculous yet wonderful spree, I dropped some furniture down at the new house and settled in for the night. I’d picked up the perfect lounging pajamas from Miss Chelsea – so I feel like this was a complete win overall.

Now, it’s a new day. What to do first? Continue reading

Your Heart’s Desire

Your heart’s desire isn’t necessarily your mind’s. People say the heart wants what it wants. But what about the rest of you? What if your soul requires one thing? What if your hands and feet require another? And what about “What you can stomach?” Your stomach has needs of it’s own, that have nothing to done with one’s heart.

There are things you feel in your bones.  What if your heart doesn’t know about them?

What if your heart is a selfish ridiculous organ with no regard for the rest of your entity? Continue reading

Change of Heart Change of House

I’m a huge fan of Trompe Loeil houses. I tend to get in one house, however, and stay it in for quite a while. I decorate like mad and I just can’t stand having to start over again. I liked this winter lodge Trompe Loeil released recently, but from my first glace I thought “Oh it’s not for me but I’ll blog it.”

Then I stood inside it.

Sometimes the magic is in the light. Sometimes the view is what takes your breath away and you realize that if you woke up every day with the sun pouring into these windows, you’d feel the warmth of that pixel ball even though such a thing is impossible. Continue reading

Nightmare into Art

I don’t have a lot of fears and phobias. In fact, I can assuredly say my list of these things is very short. But one thing that I struggle with is the horror show that is OCTOPUS.  This creature of the sea is one of the few recurring childhood nightmares that I can recall. I’m told it’s probably because of 20,000 Leagues under the Sea. I have not bothered to watch this movie to verify this fact, however. If it is – I don’t want to know. Continue reading
