I stopped by Orchid yesterday. What a lovely place to visit. There are deer, horses, and birds chirping away in a rustic winter wonderland that made me think of Alice talking to her cat, Dinah.
Do you hear the snow against the window-panes, Kitty? How nice and soft it sounds! Just as if someone was kissing the window all over outside. I wonder if the snow LOVES the trees and fields, that it kisses them so gently? And then it covers them up snug, you know, with a white quilt; and perhaps it says, “Go to sleep, darlings, till the summer comes again.”
If you’re not feeling sleepy, though, this fun skater’s dress from ISON at Collabor88 is a winner in eight gorgeous colors. ISON also presented coordinating Nordic sweaters to wear over it, but I was drawn to this fur hoodie from Xen’s Hats for the Instruments. It also comes in several colors, but the white one is my favorite.

Collabor88 is here and just in time, bringing with it lots of warm and cozy clothing to layer for warmth and color and just because they are beautiful. One of my favorites is Erratic’s sweater with an integrated lace skirt or long tunic and matching leggings. HUDs change the colors of the leggings and the lace. There are so many color options your head will spin. I am wearing two of the sweater colors for today’s post.
It’s a busy SL for me today girls, I’m up early making some soup for later, it’s just getting cool enough that some warm soup will be awesome later. Plus I’ve got a ton of shopping to do, the cats need food (seriously why do my cats email me, that never doesn’t amuse me), and I saw that Ricielli is having a CUTE little hunt that I might pop over and try to pick some stuff up, Monica Querrien did a cute little LOTD post and I am inspired to check it out while I’m out. Sanura Snowpaw made a heartfelt plea for help yesterday, one that was difficult for her to do because most of the time, she is the one answering the pleas of others. It is always hard for the givers to ask for help. But she is not asking for herself, not really, she is asking for her dog Kassie who needs an expensive surgery.
Of course, she is doing her part, too, putting everything in her store Somnia on sale at half price in hopes that folks who like her clothes will come and stock up, taking home twice as much and injecting some much-needed lindens to help take care of her dog. Since she always sells her items with a texture change hud with 8 colors, that is 90 lindens for 8 colors of this sweater and 90 lindens for 8 colors of this skirt. Seriously, even if you do not care about the dog, you should spend, spend, spend just to stock up at half off on wardrobe basics. I was very happy to read an update from Ziki Questi with the good news that Kylie Jaxxon is alive and as well as can be expected when living with leukemia. She is getting back on her feet and is deeply appreciative of all the community has done to keep her sim going during her absence. The fundraiser will continue as it is to raise funds for The American Cancer Society. Please read the update yourself for the good news.
I do not know Kylie Jaxxson, but I love her sim. From it, I imagine her as someone who finds beauty in simplicity, in the raw and unadorned flotsam of life. I imagine a kind of serenity coupled with an ease with herself, that feeling comfortable in your own skin acceptance that is so rare. I could be wildly off the mark, but I don’t think so. I think we reveal ourselves when we create and landscaping is one of the most elemental forms of creation. There is something so relaxed and comforting in the simple tableaus at The Trace Too that I feel they must be drawn from the designer’s inner self.

I hadn’t ever heard of The Trace Too until Cajsa linked to Ziki Quest’s blog. I feel a bit sad that I’ve probably missed out on something all this time, and now it will be leaving us. I am sadder, however, that it seems another SLer is struggling with health issues.
I don’t know the person who’s sim this is, nor the people doing a little fundraiser. But what I do know is what it’s like to feel helpless while someone you care about is ill across the globe, to watch and worry about the worst, and how it feels when the worst happens. All of that I’ve got in spades. So I went over to shoot some pics and promote their effort to remember their friend.
In SL sometimes that’s the best we can do for our friends, and I’m glad to support that. Continue reading
The Fernando gown from Dead Dollz is romance personified. I love the beautiful embroidered tracery of flowers and vines in that soft peach, blue and mint. I love the fitted bodice with the bouffant exuberant squirt and the sheer overblouse. the definition of the belted waistline. It takes so many elements of historical and folk costume and the result is completely modern. It borrows from the baroque to make something minimalist and resolutely of the the now. It’s just great design on every level.
In my youth I was notorious for ONE MORE when I got home. Just ONE MORE. You hate for the fun to end, just one more drink, something fun before you let sleep take over. It’s a time waster, filling your hours until reality returns. But it provides relief from whatever you’re avoiding anyway – at least sometimes it does.
Two things to share on this Thursday. I just realized that this dress I blogged the other day actually comes in sizes FITTED to the Belleza body – I’m wearing my Isis body and the version of the dresses FOR that body. HOT DAMN. That’s brilliant. Continue reading
