I don’t often do skin reviews because I am not one of those devil-in-the-details people who zoom in on the toes, the backs of the knees, the nipples and other parts hither and thither to inspect for flaws. I am guided more by the overall impression of the skin and how it makes me feel. The new Dafne skin from PXL Creations makes me feel great!

For the picky details, I go and read Gogo, Luna, Grazia and a few others to find out if there are flaws. Of course, with some skin designers, I just know they are flawless because the designers are so meticulous and painstaking. Hart Larsson of PXL Creations is that sort of designer. For example, reading on plurk, I saw that he reloaded 280 of his skin textures because he noticed that the texture compression varied in some viewers and make a slight imperfection. Frankly I could not see the imperfection, but that’s one of the 674 reasons I don’t make skins.

The new release Dafne comes in four tones, Pale, Natural, Sunkissed and Light Tan. It’s shown above in the Summer makeup that features a lovely mint green and pink shadow blend with luscious lips. One of the reasons I think PXL Creations is so successful can be seen in the composite above. Notice that the makeup is not identical in each skin tone. The lip color in Light Tan is significantly different from the lip color in Pale. If you have ever seen skins that do not adjust the makeup for the different skin tones, you will understand how important that kind of detail is when making skins that look beautiful in every tone.

For the standard eye makeups, there are seven lip colors. They are Nude, Pale, Bronze, Pink, Wine, Rose, Passion. There are three eye makeups, Nude, Glam and Extreme. The composite above features the Glam Eyes with the seven lip colors. in the Natural skin tone.

Now we are moving on to a new innovation from Hart that exploits the new tattoo layers and expands your skin inventory to the 4th power. He has created tattoo layer Tone Tuners that can be worn as an overlay with your skins – and yes, I have tried them with other skins by other skin makers and they work fine. In the photo above, you see the Pale skin tone with the Blue makeup in the center. Then you see what happens when I wear the Tone Tuners: Olive (top left), Reddish (bottom left), Sunkiss (top right) and Light/Smoother (bottom right).
