There’s more than green beer to look forward to on St. Patrick’s Day this year. At 5 pm that day, Ryker Beck will release her new Genesis Eden skins to the general public. Many of you know Ryker Beck for her outstanding photography and her jewelry line. She has always been generous with tips and tutorials on her web site for those seeking to improve their SL photo skills. As a photographer first – I think she has brought a special understanding to the art of skin creation. And for those of us plurkers, we have followed the process of creating Eden from alpha to omega. Today you will probably see the 8 different shades this skin comes in all across the fashion blogs – because it’s an exciting new skin.
To show it off, I decided on a relatively simple dress from LeeZu called Dita. It looks wonderful without the prim skit – as a system skirt. Interestingly and irritatingly, LeeZu has seperated the system skirt and top dress from the glitch pants and the prim skirt into three purchases. Although it seems designed to reduce costs letting you pick and choose, are you really going to wear a system skirt without glitch pants?
The simplicity of the dress lets me wear another Genesis creation – the Prathivi jewelry set. If you follow my blog with any regularity, you have seen it a few times because it’s bold, interesting and yet relatively simple in design.
This is the Codie makeup. I must confess a moment of dislocation and confusion when I first put the skin on. Having followed its evolution for so long, it had become so thoroughly Rykerized because I always saw it on her shape. Since skin is sort of like tossing a cloth over a frame – and letting it fall where the shape guides it, it looks completely different on me. I knew that, but was still surprised by it.
Ryker as a skin consumer brought her own preferences and a client-side perspective to her creation. With 8 shades, plain or freckled and 20 makeup choices, she created an embarrassment of riches for the skin fanatic. As to the skin itself, I love the softness of the freckles and the glorioius shading on the eyes. Skin fanatics will be all over it for the well-defined musculature which this outfit does not reveal. Let’s just say though, that the Ryker skin is built like a brick house. Take a look at those luscioius eyes by the way – every skin pack comes with a full complement of eyes.
