And Just Like That It’s Bandana Day

Bandana Day is upon us once again. It’s a stern reminder of why we have the Hair Fair each year which is much more about others than us.  It’s not just a shopping event, yet we do love to shop. It’s an event where we come together and the lindens we spend help others.

The RL has plagued me more than usual and kept poor Pixel Gidge trapped on her island alone, but she did make a foray into the Hair Fair. She has a ritual, before she buys anything, she seeks the bandanas. Why? Because they people that make them, make them with LOVE. They don’t make a dime out of it, they don’t benefit, in fact it costs them time and creativity. Yet every year people make them. Hell even I made them a year or two – until the trappings of mesh put them beyond my own skills.

I’m proud to stand here for the “I don’t Know How Many Years In a Row” time and say I supported Wigs for Kids and Hair Fair once again. Thank you Sasy and Whimsy and whomever else poured their time and love into making this event happen.

You are very appreciated – even if we forget to tell you.

If Life Gives You Bandanas, Make Bandanda Day

Bandana Day @ Hair Fair 2017

Lelutka’s Bandanda Day contributions to Hair Fair are always a work of art. Bandana Day is always the last day of Hair Fair to remind us, after celebrating our crowning glory for two glorious weeks, that sometimes people lose their hair for a host of reasons. The purpose of Hair Fair, despite how we may feel, is not just about making us look good, it’s about prompting us to do good with our shopping dollars, to raise money for Wigs For Kids. So Bandana Day is a reminder, there’s a more serious underlying purpose than just making us look good.

Hair Fair Is Almost Over But Collabor88 Is Full Throttle

Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.

Only one more day of Hair Fair, one more day to find gorgeous hair and raise money for Wigs for Kids. This blog will show a few of the EnVOGUE hairs for the designer I profiled earlier today. I will also show of the fun outfit from Hucci that makes me thing I should try salsa dancing. Other highlights are some fun sandals from Pure Poison and crazy bold earrings from Mon Cheri – all at Collabor88. I will let the photos speak for themselves.

Meet the Hair Fair Designers: Casandra Rain of EnVOGUE

enVOGUE - NEW Hair WHITNEY

It’s Only Fashion interviewed EnVOGUE’s Casandra Rain who offered several styles at Hair Fair 2017.

What drew you to designing hair? When did you start? What are some of the changes that were most significant for you?

I am a woman … so how is a woman ? Never has enough clothes … enough shoes …. and enough Hair. Because once in 2014, I needed badly a hairstyle that I could not find back then in SL, I have decided to make it myself since I have experience in RL with 3D programs. That hairstyle is a retro one … never was for sale in mainstore and never will be, is just for myself 😛

How did you choose your store name? Does it have a special meaning for you?

enVOGUE is a french expression for something trendy, fashion and elegant. I always like to check real life hairstyles and sometimes I request ideas from costumers to help me create something they want. So it has a special meaning for me because it shows how much I care for what people believe that are good haircuts to come from RL fashion catwalks and magazines to SL streets

There’s a Boat That’s Leaving Soon for New York

Are You Sleeping? One of my favorite songs ever is “There’s a Boat That’s Leaving Soon for New York” from Porgy and Bess as sung by Phoebe Snow. This promenade on Staten Island made me think of the song. To be honest, lots of things make me think of this song. It’s on my iPod and I play it frequently. Her voice was amazing and she was a heroic woman.

There’s a boat that’s leaving soon for New York
Come with me
That’s where we belong, baby
You and me can live that high life in New York
Come with me
There we can’t go wrong, baby

Second Life Photos: What I Like #16

I have fallen behind and it’s been weeks since I posted What I Like. Just to catch up a bit, I am going to post short explanations and more pictures.

Degas'd

Degas’d by Grazia Horwitz.

I like Degas’d by Grazia Horowitz. Why? The desaturated subtlety gives it an air of fragility that suits the tentative pose, the cocked shoulder, inward-turning feet, the air of uncertainty and delicacy.

I like Hands Away by ROQUAI Poses. It is intriguing and prompts questions. It makes me want to know more. It’s bold and dares to withhold. Continue reading
