I Have a Weakness

I love hot drinks. All sorts of hot drinks. Coffees, teas, chai, hot chocolate. Bring me hot drinks. I have known smokers in real life who would leave cigarettes scattered around their house in ash trays, burning, and would smoking them as they passed by. I am like that in my Second Life with hot drinks. I leave them around.

I think she might be thirsty.  Continue reading

What If I Just Stood Here ?

Someone wrote on SLSECRETS last week that they miss bloggers writing about what they were wearing. I think a lot of bloggers still do this. There are some who don’t. It depends on where their fancy takes them, and what their blog means to them. Cajsa and I still write, but we love words as much as we love fashion. But most importantly, we write for an audience that likes, more or less, what we do.

Knowing who you want to write for, and what you want to write about is an important part of being a blogger. Dressing my doll, and letting her have a bit of a virtual life is only part of it for me. I also like to share her with you. Some days that’s as quick as LOOK AT THIS THING. Maybe that’s because in real life, I’d be so harried that day, this is how I’d end up communicating with you, were we friends. Continue reading

Portrait of the Artist

141102_006

The Reach Sketchbook set comes with 9 sits, 3 stands and 1 sequence for the model. when you choose an option, the sketch on the easel changes to reflect your new pose. You can also get a copy of the sketch to hang on your wall.

I found this amazing furniture at ReAct the other day, a lounge with an artist’s easel and chair. I asked Gogo if she new any artists who might be interested in sketching my portrait and she suggested Spyder Silverfall. Sure enough, he was willing to do my portrait, so I posed for him. As you can see, the sketch progressed quickly.

While he was sketching, I snuck a snap of him. He was quite fashionable in his black shirt and pants with the kneepads. His hair was styled by Tableau Vivant and is a good look on him . Continue reading

Designer Download — Sasy Scarborough

Sasy Scarborough is familiar to nearly everyone involved in fashion in Second Life®. She worked for years as a customer service representative for many of the biggest brands in SL. She is also one of the “old guard” bloggers with her Sasypants blog. Her experience has made her a role model for many other bloggers. As lead organizer for Hair Fair, she is the heart, soul, lungs and lifeblood of that event. She also runs a shopping sim called The Deck and a bi-monthy shopping event called My Attic. In addition, she has her own business selling her Slink applicator items, primarily nails as well as a pose/pose set business with Whimsy Winx. And with all that, she still has time to have fun and socialize and make the most of her Second Life.

It’s Only Fashion: What was your first day in Second Life like? What made you stick it out through the learning curve?

Sasy Scarborough: My first day in Second Life was amazing, I was taken in hand by a friend who introduced me to it, and he had four girls waiting at the gate with him. They took me to all the free places like Free Dove, and Pazazz Hair and thirty minutes later I was denoobed.

They then took me to Transylvania, the sim that was just incredible back then, and we danced, which was the main reason I wanted to join Second Life, because I had seen him salsa on shared screen. There was a huge market event on at Transylvania that weekend, and I complimented a vendor on her items, and she whisked me away and got me to model for her for a goth school girl outfit…she then gave me the outfit and years later I was still on her wall in her store.

I found Second Life just full of possibilities so learning everything was worth it. Continue reading

CAI as in Cairo, Zha as in Asia

There is no greater thrill for a fashionista than to have some design named after them. If you have a name many folks don’t know how to pronounce, it’s even more thrilling because it doesn’t happen very often. So, yes! I was thrilled when Thalia Heckroth named her newest gown in my honor. I was even more thrilled though, seeing it’s modern lines and minimalist style.

Rumpelstiltskin Was a Douche

The Tale of Rumpelstiltskin was always one that troubled me as a child. Really this poor girl has been kidnapped against her will because her FATHER is an ass and you can’t be nice to her and help her out? You have to make a bargain for her FIRST CHILD?

And what’s he going to do with the child anyway? I can’t even remember what the story says. In my mind, he’s going to eat it.  WHAT A JERKWAD.  Continue reading

I Left The Window Open

Leaves blowing in are just one danger of leaving open your windows around here. Another would be that you might get burglars, or noobs.  I chanced it and only wound up with a shower of leaves as the fall colors are suddenly everywhere. Continue reading
