I went through the desert on a horse with no name. (He was a freebie at the entrance)
It felt good to be out of the rain. (Portland broke its wettest March record.)
There were plants and birds and rocks and things (and things?)
There was sand and hills and rings (rings, really?)
The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz (what was he smoking?)
And the sky with no clouds (what do you expect, it’s the desert)
The heat was hot and the ground was dry (hot heat is hot)
But the air was full of sound (only if you brought your ipod)

After two days in the desert sun (and he still has not named the horse?)
My skin began to turn red (I got a skin burner.)
After three days in the desert fun (you think it’s fun?)
I was looking at a river bed (it didn’t take that long at Red Desert)
And the story it told of a river that flowed (Rivers flow)
Made me sad to think it was dead (Not dead, just dry)

The ocean is a desert with it’s life underground (this is where the mole people live)
And a perfect disguise above (because it’s really not a desert?)
Under the cities lies a heart made of ground (yes, ground rhymes with ground)
But the humans will give no love (Now I understand)
