Eponymous Me & Cockfosters

“There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”

So, I was considering what to wear on this subway. I really didn’t want anything ridiculous revealing. Something I would hope not be accosted in is what I was thinking. I remembered this gorgeous dress Cecelia Petion had posted on Plurk, so I unpacked the Poppy blogger box for June and saw the box inside had a dress named Cajsa. OMG! What could this be? Then when I unpacked it, it was the dress I remembered from Plurk…I just about did handstands. I would have if I had an animation handy. This struck me as the apotheosis of Second Life serendipity. They way things just fall into place.

Here and Gone

Here and Gone

I am usually ambivalent about jumpsuits. In my first life, I think they are annoying. They are not particularly flattering and seriously, who wants to almost completely undress every time they go to the restroom? But we don’t pee in SL, so bodysuits are not so ridiculous here.

And when the body suit is this beautifully architectural, then all of a sudden I am down with bodysuits.

The Age of Myth

The Age of MythWhile I don’t role play it is fun to dress up. I had a good excuse because I wanted to review Age of Myth, this book I read that I really loved. There were some outfits at The Arcade that were perfect so the timing was perfect.

Age of Myth is a fantasy novel, the first of five in a new series by Michael J. Sullivan. I reviewed this book on my blog HERE.

Collabor88 Fashions & Book Reviews Too

In every outthrust headland, in every curving beach, in every grain of sand there is the story of the earth

I spent the afternoon at The Trace Too, using all the seating there for my poses. I hopped on scooter and a bench that were on-site. I went there to make a video blog about a book I had just finished reading.

Fabsolutely Fun Fashion

"Every day we ignore how completely broken this world is and we tell ourselves it’s all going to be okay, you’re gonna be okay. But it’s not okay. And once you know that, there’s no going back."

Anemysk Kara just showed this blouse she is releasing at Vintage Fair and I just fell in love with its fabstract design. I love the combination of old-fashioned and hyper-modern. The front and the sleeves are so very traditional, then it’s cropped and has an open back. From front to back is a two hundred time travel jump and a brilliant play on form. It’s sold in three packs: plain (vibrant, saturated colors), patterns (prints and florals), and silk (pastels).

"Every day we ignore how completely broken this world is and we tell ourselves it’s all going to be okay, you’re gonna be okay. But it’s not okay. And once you know that, there’s no going back."

I combined it with a fun, cheeky belted skirt from Baiastice which you can find at Collabor88. Frankly, I was so indecisive, I could see the top with pencil skirts, cigarette pants, a mini-skirt, high-waisted bell bottoms, or just about anything. The slim silhouette of a pencil skirt of cigarette pant would be sophisticated, but I thought this cheeky option would be fabsolutely fashion fun.

"Every day we ignore how completely broken this world is and we tell ourselves it’s all going to be okay, you’re gonna be okay. But it’s not okay. And once you know that, there’s no going back."

I shot my pictures at One Tree Hill, a Linden Endowment of the Arts sim. It’s probably based on the show I have never watched, but I loved the nostalgia of the sim.

MetaLES and Contrasts

Gallery exhibitions are like flowers, they bloom, and then they die, they exist only as memories.

I put on this gorgeous jumpsuit from Baiastice that was released at Collabor88 the other day. I had thought I might go check out the beach, but then on a whim, I headed over to MetaLES to see the new exhibition from Sina Souza. It is amazing! However, I could not help but notice that in mood the exhibit and my outfit were on opposite sides of a vast chasm. This jumpsuit is bright, colorful and fun-provoking.

Gallery exhibitions are like flowers, they bloom, and then they die, they exist only as memories.

The exhibition is striking, creative, sombre, and thought-provoking.

The Heavenly Spheres make music for us,

The Heavenly Spheres make music for us,

The Poetry of the Spheres are on display at LEA4 – a celebration of music and poetry in a pastoral setting with lovely ancient ruins. From the description of the sim:

Legend has it that the Ancient Gods of the Greeks have abandoned this realm, but evidence of their existence can be found above, in celestial spheres. These signs and symbols, both direct and abstract, are also reflected in Gustav Holst’s 1918 orchestral suite, The Planets, Op 32.

You can explore each of the seven movements, representing the corresponding planets, by teleporting from the Olympus Island up to that particular sphere:

Mars, the Bringer of War
Venus, the Bringer of Peace
Mercury, the Winged Messenger
Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity
Saturn, the Bringer of Old Age
Uranus, the Magician
Neptune, the Mystic

There you will find a music link station for the appropriate movement – click on it to open a link to the music so you can play it on your browser while you explore. Most of the symphonic movements are less than 10 minutes long, and the symphony in entire is less than 45 minutes long.

#FlatLarry Visits Campaign Headquarters

I was shocked and heartbroken to hear that Larry Wilmore’s The Nightly Show has been cancelled and will broadcast its final show on Thursday. While I do not always agree with Larry, I respect his humanity so much. He has the decency to be completely serious when the situation calls for it, to take a stand. I respect that. He brings new voices to the air, funny, smart people who will be missed.

So #FlatLarry and I set off for the Second Life version of the Unblackening, checking out the different campaign headquarters. It was uncanny how completely each campaign headquarter captured the essence of the candidates and their campaigns.

Visiting Campaign HQ with #FlatLarry

Here we are at Hillary’s campaign HQ. Notice how well prepared and planned it is. There’s plenty of signage, lots of balloons and it’s perfectly finished and decorated.

Collabor88 Is Setting Up…Are You Ready?

I’m wandering the streets of this little coastal town, exploring in some casual comfort from Collabor88’s AUGUST edition. It’s a beautiful round so far, I think you’re going to enjoy it a lot.  Continue reading

Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn

Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn.

Ralph Waldo Emerson reminds us not to look at sunset as the end, but as a promise of a new beginning. It seemed somewhat appropriate for this post featuring several items from the June showcase at Collabor88. Tomorrow is the final day. Collabor88’s sun sets at midnight, but brings the promise of a new dawn at midnight on the 8th when the July Showcase opens with its brand new theme, Treasured Memories. I so love that Collabor88 avoids the cliche themes and color schemes that tend to surround holidays.

June’s theme was crisp and clean and that’s how I feel in this lovely set from Zaara. The coverup comes in sheer and opaque options and fits perfectly over the swimsuit. There’s a HUD to specify the suit color and whether the trim is silver or gold
