PLURK THIS!

posted by Gidge Uriza

Cajsa asked, out on Plurk, what designers of note are underblogged. She shared with me the other day the list that came back and I mentally went through and said “blogged them, blogged them, blogged them…..” but then she got to Kurotsubaki and I said “Oh yeah, I own some pieces but I’ve never blogged them.” and slipped into this baby doll dress.

I know I’ve said before that I don’t like many true babydolls – and I usually pull that prim skirt DOWN but it just seemed very unnatural with this dress. The line of the prim doesn’t give me that unnatural pregnant look the way this is constructed.

In fact, I’ve owned this a while and I remember clearly SEEING it across the store. I had wandered into the shop and everything was grey and while I was poking about – I suddenly looked over and had one of those “Oh that’s pretty!” moments. I picked it up, and put it on for an afternoon of solo shopping around various Japanese sims that day.

I have to laugh because that is the very dress I wore the day I got asked TWICE if I was pregnant. It must all be in how it fits my shape, because you look great. I thought I looked great….until Maht said, “hmmm, you got something to tell me”

You know, any such list will change from one day to the next, depending on who responds and what is on the feed in recent days. It’s highly subjective and leaves out so many stores …so I think sharing it with anyone but Gidge might just lead to a whole lot of drama. Moreover, it’s a matter of selection. Many are Japanese stores, it’s possible they are blogged to bits on japanese fashion feeds. It’s also a matter of perception, depending on what blogs people read. Someone mentioned a store the other day as one that never gets blogged and I laughed because I have blogged it a couple dozen times.

I know both Gidge and I try to blog beyond the Top Ten – whoever they are – and range far and wide. To be frank, I think most fashion bloggers range pretty far and wide and do a good job of highlighting the small and the big, the new and the old. We have 43 pages of tags – one tag for each store (except for typos) and that number keeps growing. I don’t want to fault any bloggers for not covering this or that store…fashion blogging is a labor of love and people do what they want to do.
