You do know how to whistle, don't you Steve?

You just put your lips together, and blow.

So, I totally owe the title for this post to Grady Echegaray from Strange Pixels who posted the quote in flickr’s comments on this photo.  She was reminded of that hot, hot scene from the movie To Have and Have Not. This look is definitely hot sultry 1940’s – though the individual inspiration is more Burlesque than Bacall.

I saw a post highlighting some skins at Chic Boutique but when I went there to check them out, I ltook a wrong turn and ended up in formals – and what a lucky wrong turn that was. This dress is just the tip of the iceberg in stunning, exciting gowns from Chic Boutique.

In red satin with black lace piping following the body’s curves like the stays on a corset, this dress accentuates the positive.  Styled like a corset, with a pleated shelf bra and black lace stays, the dress even has the top of the corset ruffle of lace.

The beribboned black shoes are from AOHARU and though thoroughly modern, have some of the rounded substance that reflect that era’s shoes.

Unfortunately, the lace on the bodice is a  chest attachment and will have to be edited to attach to the spine so you can wear your necklaces – which that broad decolletage demands.  You could choose to edit the necklace, but I prefer consistency and necklaces are usually on the chest. Since I was editing the lace trim anyway, I decided to go all out and edited individual pieces – only 4 of them – to more perfectly conform to the curvature of my breasts.

The dress gave me the excuse I needed to get a skin I was hankering for – the Dita skin from G L A N C E. I think it should be illegal to call yourself G L A N C E instead of Glance, but other than that, I love this skin which, like the dress was, inspired by the contemporary burlesque performer Dita von Teese.  This skin has that luminous quality that sets some skins apart and make them a pleasure to photograph. The hair is from Ingenue – the go-to store for vintage hairstyles.

<——-is smiling. I am so tickled you picked that quote for a title Cajsa. It popped into my head as soon as I saw that first pic. Lovely outfit and styling, as always.
(Small note. I think Ach is da bomb, but it’s Strange Pixels I post at.) 🙂

It’s strange that your comments were caught by the spam thing. So glad I checked it this morning. And you’re right, I don’t know where my head was. I have changed it in the post.
