Au Revoir, Shantu Selene

posted by Gidge Uriza

It was easy enough to decide which designer to wear to the farewell show of Shantu Selene. A classic crooner definitely warrants something vintage – and in my closet that almost always means Ivalde. The show was an early show, 6ish so I decided the white version of Ivalde’s Leah dress was a great choice (this is a dollarbie, btw, on the second floor of Ivalde).
But my real excitement getting dressed for this event was that this was my first chance to slip into my FIRST TWO review items!
I had recently received some items from Laqroki to review and I was delighted to take them for a spin around the world.
I’m wearing JUNE in Sunkissed for my hair.

This style is currently unreleased and you can imagine the “Happy Snoopy At Suppertime” dance I did when I unpacked the items. Like the Priss hair I already own, it’s a gorgeous set of long hair (this one is longer) with elegant bangs and a classic headband that is textured like velvet.
I also received it in dark brown.

The hair from Laqroki I had heard of forever, back when they were called RAC even – but never understood how beautiful and REALISTIC their hair is. It’s amazing. Instead of cartoon hair on a cartoon girl – I was suddenly wearing REAL hair on my cartoon girl.

But then – I slipped into the skin they sent me. Portrait Skin Lucy 03.

Oh my.

Real girl with real hair.

There is a lot of beautiful skin available for cheap in the world for free, based on Eloh Eliot’s templates. But when you slip into something like the Laqroki Portrait skin, you really DO know why it’s costs more. It’s the details. It’s the fact that your knees and thighs aren’t wonky when you’re trying to do a photoshoot for lingerie.

Every detail on the body is perfect.

I’m about 99% sure I was the prettiest girl at Shantu’s show. Thanks to Laqroki and Ivalde!

Laqroki is my favorite hair in sl. As you note, the realism of the soft flex and amazing textured curl has to be seen to be believed, and only the price premium that’s charged (justifiably) keeps me from having more. No other designer has yet managed to capture the essence of this technique.

And now there is – maybe – going to be another style I must have, but it’s not released yet? You torture me…

She also does a great job of thinking about the hair prim and body intersections. Generally speaking, her hair is some of the easiest to deal with for photographs.

I think that the products of Laqroki fall under your mother’s age old advice.
You don’t need a lot of something.
You just need a GOOD one and you’ll always look fabulous.

true, but I will covet it nonetheless. I think SL fairly qualifies as fantasy, where common sense may feel free to check itself at the door 🙂
