Flipping For Hair Fair

Flipping For Hair Fair

Hair Fair 2016 opened at midnight and I was so excited I was flipping with joy. Also because I wanted to show off my lovely espadrilles from Mutresse released at Collabor88. Wow! Autocorrect turns Mutresse into Mutters, now that’s one for the books.

Hair Fair is always the most anticipated fundraising event of the year. There are several reasons for it. First, it’s hair. Second, every year the planning and execution is better than the year before. Now, when you may have thought they reached the pinnacle of perfect planning last year and they could not possibly get better, but yet, somehow they did. The biggest change this year was not inward, but was instead on the Hair Fair web site where you will find a gallery of all the shops and all the hairs, a guide to Hair Fair at your fingertips.

Quick Snaps @ Hair Fair

The theme is a movie lot of middle America. It’s all very fun with rows of tract housing for the stores. I know with the guide, you could just pop in and out, but don’t forget how much fun it is to see what they designers get up to decorating their shops.

The Perfect Red

"All my life I've pursued the perfect red." —Diana Vreeland

Diana Vreeland once said she spent her entire life in search of the perfect red. She should have started at Sascha’s Designs where Sascha Fragelli has captured the perfect red in her Lush Red Dress for The Instruments from February 11th through the 25th. The dress comes with its own jewelry, heart-shaped hat and white boa, but I decided to go in another direction with Lelutka’s bolero in purple (it was a Christmas group gift). Something about red and purple is so lush and wild.

How do you Hoodoo?

Helena Stringer - IOF - How do you Hoodoo - 1
World Goth Fair is still going strong, with a little over a week left of the event. It officially ends on May 31st. There are so many musical things happening before then, which will be held at the Club Gothika. You can keep up to date on all the happenings on the Official Site HERE.

I don’t often get a chance to cover Home&Garden items. I don’t own a home, never have. I have always thought the prims best used for other things, on the lands I own. It does create issues, when I do get the urge to cover something that isn’t fashion, or when I feel the need for an actual location to show something off properly.

I picked up this gothic looking skybox from Roawenwood this week, as I felt it would work well with my WGF coverage. If it wasn’t roundish, I might have even used it as my work studio, haha. Alas, it is round, but gives me the ability to easily do setups. Much like a Turnip Skysdome, I can just plunk it down, and fill it with random stuff for the shots I need. Going to have lots of fun with this thing!

Autocomplete

I have such a hard time remembering hisw to spell Loovus Dzevavor. Thankfully, Google autocomplete finishes it for me. I had a hard time, too, choosing just one of the delightful outfits from the Fall Winter Collection that was released for Penumbra Fashion Week. You can take a peek at a few others on the Loovus web site. I chose the wrap-up top and skirt because I love the inset triangles and how they highlight the curves of my hip. It’s a single mesh piece, but it feel like separates. There are two other versions of this outfit at Penumbra with the same top but different color skirts – brilliant and bold. Continue reading

Staying In…… in VoguE

If you plan on staying in, the Boudoir Collection at VoguE has a good selection to choose from for your “needs”.   And for mine… I chose Dracy.  Its mesh, but a see through chemise lets your gorgeous shape show through.

Only Four More Days of Fashion For Life

0616_006

Have you been to Fashion For Life yet? If not, you only have four more days. There’s more than 150 stores across 10 beautifully designed sims. There’s no lag, so you can enjoy skateboarding in the skate park at FFL Perambulate or strolling on the sand at FFL Meander or enjoying a space bar worthy of Han Solo on FFL Promenade. For these pictures, I visited FFL Journey which explores steampunk stream transit with everything from steam cars to a steam hearse.

My jacket is from FBD Design one of the Champions sponsoring the sims these year. FBD is rebranding to Mooh! so in the future look for it under that name. I love the mix of punk and baroque elements in one jacket. It’s fun, funky and oh-so-fashionable.

What Really Matters

Fashion For Life Champions KL Couture, EMO-tions and Body Canvas.

The older I get, the more I realize how lucky I was as a child. I had two wonderful parents who loved me and never gave me a moment of doubt about it. Sometimes it seems that makes me an outlier when I hear friends share their painful and conflicted histories with their parents. So I am lucky. Even though they are both gone, I am lucky I have only the loss of missing them, undiluted by unresolved hurt and anger. Still Father’s Day and Mother’s Day are hard days for me. I miss them. Beauty is

jun13_004

Beauty is only skin deep. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Beauty is as beauty does. Beauty is truth, truth beauty. Beauty is pain. Beauty is power the same way money is power the same way a gun is power. Beauty is eternity gazing at itself in a mirror. Beauty is welcome. Beauty is a whore. Beauty is vain. Beauty is not caused, it is. Beauty is unbearable. Beauty is the illumination of your soul. Beauty is too much for me to handle. Beauty is a form of genius. Beauty is is something that burns your hand when you touch it. Beauty is whatever gives joy. Beauty is the shadow of imperfections. Beauty is a light in the heart. Beauty is its own excuse for being. Beauty is ineffable. Beauty is everywhere.
