A very, very fine house

My House

I do not move houses very often in Second Life® or in real life. It is just too much work. However, when the Brooklyn Carriage House came out at Collabor88 last month, I could not resist its bright red doors and fine brickwork. I finally have everything arranged, but will be moving shortly. I thought I would share before I pack it all up. I love the house and how it looks, but I guess my four year old computer really cannot handle such an open floor plan where everything fezzes all the time. I need rooms and walls that limit the textures my computer has to handle, so I will be on my way to a more traditional space. That is totally a reflection of my computer’s age and is no criticism of the house – which is gorgeous, very, very gorgeous.

My outdoor decor is pretty limited, just a few shrubs and bushes from We’re Closed, a couple trees and the gorgeous deck from Lark that was released at The Liaison Collaborative a few month’s back.

A Get Away Spot

When I was growing up my Dad’s friend had a trailer down on the river. There was a little community of ramshackle trailers of various ilk, and on the weekend, everyone would head down there for some time, sitting, relaxing, fishing, or whatever.

A lot of card games were played, and rather random foods consumed. Chips with strange dips, donuts and maybe a hot dog might make up your lunch. It just all depended on who you were visiting when it was time to eat something. Continue reading

Me And My Body

My new SLINK Physique body and I have a busy day ahead of us. I decided to feed it some breakfast, to find out if it’s as big of a foodie as my old body was. Indeed it is. I picked up a new toaster from What Next for FLF which is the PERFECT addition to my shades of pink kitchen, and it makes lots of yummies.  Continue reading

It Takes a Lot of Work

I always laugh a little when I get dressed, remembering Dolly Parton in Steel Magnolia’s declaring “It takes a lot of work to look like this!”  What I wanted to look like this morning was comfortable. It’s Sunday, and luckily Girl Thursday just released adorable casual clothes that are perfect for your adventures on such a relaxed day.

I made my coffee and perused the sales, trying to decide where to head out to first.   Continue reading

What’s Not To Love ?

My new home from Alouette comes with the huge wrap around porch of my RL dreams.   After I got pixel Gidge ready for her very packed day of shopping she decided that ordering some breakfast up was exactly in order.  She has her own mind most days. Luckily, I live on an island that has everything and it was nothing to get some coffee to go sent over and some waffles.

It makes me not really mind the storm rolling in for the day. Continue reading

Like A Room Without A Roof

I was going to go shopping for a new dining table, ok I WENT shopping for a new dining table. But then I was bored with everything and came home only to go shopping in my own inventory. I forgot I had this adorable cafe table from What Next. Yes, it’s probably two years old, but it’s still COMPLETELY adorable and so,  my big front porch now has a lovely outside dining area. Now That Holiday Guests Are Gone

I was expecting various escorts, pimps and blingtards from SL holidays past to stop in and was ecstatic to find a new living room set from CHEEKY PEA at THE GARDEN which features a HIDEABED! Seriously – this comes in SO handy when your friends and relatives who still haven’t found mesh yet decide to spend the night! You just CLICK and it’s a bed. CLICK AGAIN and it’s a bed.

Makes a clean up a snap! Continue reading

The Holiday Home Tour – I’ll Start With Me!

I spent the better part of a week hunting the new and the awesome to decorate my house for this Christmas season. I have to admit I’m a little sad that the Arcade didn’t open in time for me to add some of the lovely things I’ve seen that are coming but eh, I’ll get them in what- 3 weeks when you can get in? :) Oh who am I kidding? I’ll totally get them at yardsales – tomorrow.

I am so excited about the holiday home tour. My mother and I used to always go to holiday home tours when I lived near her, it was a glimpse at a house I’d never have – kind of like day dreaming a little fantasy – and sharing it with your mom. But in SL we can all have whatever kind of house we want. I love to see how people express their holiday joy when they decorate. I hope you enjoy mine.

The living room is always the room I work on first as I consider it the room for entertaining and socializing. Plus it’s what you see first when you walk in the room.

Trompe Loeil has a really comfy holiday sofa and I combined it with some chairs from What Next, a pillow basket and coffee table from earlier releases of Trompe Loeil as well. Continue reading
