Space Love

There is a gift to making houses. I’m so spoiled and picky that once I find myself in a house with poky walls where I find my camera running into trouble regularly, I abandon them post-haste. I can’t be bothered with houses that I can’t cam about in comfortably.

That’s probably why, despite some fun shaped rooms that might seem to be potential camera problems, I am in love with my twin treehouses.  I make the living/sleeping quarters in one half with an alcove for my bath, and the other house is solely for kitchen and dining. It’s a bit like a summer house with the kitchen separate due to the heat. Continue reading

Life is too short to…

Life is too short to wear boring jewelry.

Life is too short to wear boring clothes. So, those who know these things attribute the quote to Cushnie et Ochs, a fashion label. I don’t know, I bet Marie Antoinette said it a few times in her day, even before she had any idea how much too short her life would be. Life is too short to not indulge your whims and fancies when you can, or more appropriately, when you can responsibly. In this case, I indulged myself, but deciding to move the panniers that were placed on the hips of this dress up to my shoulders for a completely different look. If you want to see the original, check it out here.

Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them.

“Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them.”Gizza recently released a skirt and shirt/jacket combo that is a rocker’s dream. Called Shake With Me, even the name acknowledges this rocking inspiration for this outfit.  A short flared skirt, a fitted crop top with lace topped by a leather jacket combine to rock your socks off.
“Never trust anyone who has not brought a book with them.”

You can trust me, I bring a book everywhere I go. I just finished the magnificent All the Light We Cannot See that I recommend to all of you. Meanwhile,  am busy reading The Culture of Make Believe which I read in small doses at a time because it is so rich in ideas and in detail and full of pain that I have to think about each concept before moving on. So, for relief, I am also reading Get In Trouble, but other than being intrigued already, it’s too soon to say how much I will like it.

Because I Can

15 Aug 20_011I went to the beautiful The Trace Too to shoot some pictures. I love this sim so much. I wandered into the water even though I was wearing a long skirt, because I can. These colors don’t run.

Details

150803_010150803_009

While big elements of a design may draw our eyes, it is the details that win our hearts. Sure, I love the beautiful color combinations in this floral crown and in this dress, but it is the beautiful butterfly and seed pods and the gorgeous ruching that make them special.

150803_001

I love how this look came together, the bold dress from Valentina E. is a perfect foil for the organic modernism of Kunglers jewelry and cheeky retro-chic of the undo from Vanity Hair – and each item has exquisite attention to detail.

Omni-Blogging: MSO, Hair Fair, Collabor88 & a Tinting Tutorial

150709_004

Baiastice released a gorgeous dress for this underwater-themed Collabor88. I will confess I was nervous about this month’s theme, but as usual, the collaborators of Collabor88 were not too literal and came through with flying colors – mostly blues. Continue reading

Gone Fishing

150618_006

Those Fisherman Pants from Zaara at The Arcade make me very happy. I have several pair, snatching them up for the gacha machine filled with party delights from Goa.

Snapshot_002b

I love how the Pixicat vest from Collabor88 this month goes so well with it that I had to try out a few variations.

Of Corrupted Databases, Cabbages and Kings

Untitled

Regular readers of It’s Only Fashion will have missed us for the last two days. We had a corrupted database. From what I understand, it took a package from a North Korean agent in a black wool coat and dark glasses. Of course, anyone else would have known the agent was suspicious because it’s something like 90° and he’s wearing a black wool coat. Our database, however, was naive and unsuspecting. I hope it has learned its lesson.

Perhaps though, like Thomas Bailey Aldrich, it was distracted by two petals falling from a rose:

MY mind lets go a thousand things,
Like dates of wars and deaths of kings,
And yet recalls the very hour—
’T was noon by yonder village tower,
And on the last blue noon in May— 5
The wind came briskly up this way,
Crisping the brook beside the road;
Then, pausing here, set down its load
Of pine-scents, and shook listlessly
Two petals from that wild-rose tree.

The Light Wraps You in its Mortal Flame

150516_003

Pablo Neruda’s Poema 2 came to mind today and I wanted to share it. Here is the complete poem in English.

En su llama mortal la luz te envuelve.
Absorta, pálida doliente, así situada
contra las viejas hélices del crepúsculo
que en torno a ti da vueltas.

The light wraps you in its mortal flame.
Abstracted pale mourner, standing that way
against the old propellers of the twilight
that revolves around you.
