Saturday Part One

I’m up and dressed early and making my shopping list. I’m a list maker in both lives, and having the right list making tools is vital. I’m not a virtual list maker, I’ve had too many failures and said lists have been lost. I’m a writer on paper and my new notebooks from RC Cluster keep me perfectly organized. Today I’m hopping off to the Creation.jp event and hoping the Kawaii event is still open as there is some ink I wanted to look at. I’m going to spend too much money, it’s a fact. Continue reading

One Hunt, Three Heads and a Big Skin Sale

150426_002

I love the adorable floral blouse and skater skirt that NYU just released for the Wayward Hunt. You will have to hunt for it at the main store because this color will not be sold after the hunt is over. I always love separates because that gives me options to wear the pieces with other items.

I stopped by the beach at Terracotta but I did not wade in as I have new shoes from Ingenue (available at this month’s Collabor88 for now) and wanted to keep them dry.

Random Builds

All artsy random builds are required to have a piano somewhere, possibly in a puddle, for no reason at all. I like to sit at these pianos and pretend to play some wistful melody.

I couldn’t find one at this build, but maybe I just missed it. I give them points for the cat. The cat seems horrified that I have to pee, doesn’t it? Continue reading

Wrong Turn

I love boutiques and bargains, but I feel like I may have in fact taken a wrong turn today. This just doesn’t look right. Once I took directions from a zombie in Gatlinburg and it took me hours and hours to get home. I feel like once again, I may have been mislead by one of the undead.

So troubling. Continue reading

Time To Travel

It should come as no surprise that I ALWAYS overpack when I travel. This time I’m heading north north north from my warm southern home. It’s still terrible winter there, and I’m ill prepared for what that’s going to mean. But I’m going to pack pack pack and hope for the best. I know two pair of pajama pants might seem excessive but one is warm and one is cooler. And I need both casual clothes and work clothes.

Oh my this is going to be a lot of bags, isn’t it?

Well it doesn’t matter, the adventure alone will make lugging all these things along well worth it!

A Blogger’s Work Is Not Begging

I started out my early morning shopping and usual blogger work a bit earlier than usual today. I think of blogging both as my SL Hobby and let’s face it, it’s also a bit of a job. Some people role play families, some people role play being a space pirate, some people role play being a cabbage for all I know. I guess that makes my role play in SL being a fashion blogger.  I love it, I love styling my pixel self, I love the choices and variety of fashion – I love that high heels NEVER NEVER NEVER hurt my feet. I love being perfect based on what I consider to be ideal. I love that genetics play no part in how pixel Gidge looks. Continue reading

Twinkling

It’s cold and rainy with possible ice incoming in RL so the only recipe to solve that sort of crisis is obviously to dress up in SL. I’m wearing a new release from Sacha’s designs that is so twinkly and glittery my video card can’t show it to you.  It reminds me of what it would look like if taffeta and sequins had a baby. I know that’s crazy, they aren’t even both fabrics! What do they have in common?  Continue reading

Three Eyed Cat Soup

The original title of this post was “If you go out in the woods today…” because it was going through my head while I was getting dressed. Then I went looking around on Honour McMillan’s blog for a good place to shoot and EXACTLY the place I wanted was found in a blog post by the same name. KISMET! But I figured, she just used that title, I know we’ve used it, I’ve got to come up with something new.

I realized I’m clearly headed to Grandmother’s in this outfit. Traditionally I’m taking her a basket of food as she’s sick. So obviously, in this version of the tale, Grandmother is going to be having three eyed cat soup. Right? Yum yum. Continue reading

A Valediction for Parenthood

Snapshot

I watched the penultimate episode of Parenthood last night. It was emotionally exhausting and I cried far harder than I probably should over fictional characters in a television series. When I watched the first episode of Parenthood six years ago, I had no idea what I was getting into. It was such a quiet show that seemed to have such humble ambitions – merely telling the story of an American family. I think there was a clue right from the start, though, that this was going to be more than a post-milennial Eight is Enough. After all, their last name is Braverman.

Snapshot

Braverman! That name must be something to live up to. I actually looked up the name’s origin because I was pretty sure it did not originate with some courageous Saxon stalwart holding off a Viking horde and being called a “braver man” than most and then passing that name on for generations. It turns out to be Jewish surname from the Ukraine, a form of the Yiddish word braver which means good or honest. At least that is what most of the sources say, though one source says it means distiller. Well, the Braverman family does like their spirits. The name is perfect, though, there is something good and honest about this family and their quotidian dramas.
