I'm Not Changing My Spots

I put together a fun little outfit for Sunday’s set at the Velvet. Maht played a retrospective of the music of Alex Chilton, including his solo work, music from Big Star and other bands plus covers of some of his songs. It was a great set and we all had a lovely afternoon listening to the great music of a musician whose musical influence spread much further than his name. Continue reading

Tweed: Fabrics of Fall

I miss Gidge, don’t you? She’s been offline a lot for a very good reason, all her energy going into making a baby so she’s sleeping and napping and sleeping some more. And that’s all good if it means a happy, healthy baby in April. But I still miss her and the blog really misses her posts. She’s so funny and so much fun to pal around with.

And you know she would come up with some clever title to highlight the name of the store for this gorgeous jacket/dress. It’s a lovely tweed with frog toggle closures running up the front. Other great details include the slightly puffed sleeves and cuffs. Though the skirt prim is not open in the front, making it a dress, not a jacket, I decided to squint and think of it as a jacket anyway and wore it with the great tweed pants from Zona Cero.

Encemble For a Sunday Afternoon

*please read all the way through, I really do know how to spell Ensemble**
Responding to some recent grousing about “unknown designers” not getting enough play in the fashion blogs, I decided to spend some of my free time specifically going to stores I didn’t know. Just looking up random search terms and TP’ing in. Looking, in fact, for that diamond that simply has not been mined yet.

I ended up in some scary places and a ton of BIAB store. Hoohoo. Yeah, oh and some orgy rooms. But I digress. Continue reading

Baby, It's COLD Outside

posted by Gidge Uriza

I seem to be collecting more sweaters this year – perhaps it’s because I’m spending more time wallowing in snowy builds that lend themselves to sensible, warm gear.  Cajsa introduced me to Boom and they were gracious enough to give me a yummy sweater to review.

Armada!

posted by Gidge Uriza

I love to cruise Indyra Originals every now and again just to see what’s new because you never know what you’re going to find (I mean this in a good way). I fell in love instantly with Armada – remembering that I had seen it before and crashed right before I bought it.  It had slipped from my mind until I strolled back through there last week…… Continue reading

When Alice07 Barzane announced that the Peppermint Blue 1 Year Anniversary Party was going to be a Western Theme……I knew where I was going to turn. While I LOVE the fun of just hunting up stuff via search (I actually do) – looking up stores I might not have heard of etc to see what they have, I’d been looking for a reason to pick up WASTELAND COWGIRL from Bare Rose for quite a while.

I don’t normally look for a reason to pick up clothes, but this kind of falls into the “Costume” milieu of my closet and I don’t generally just collect costumes without cause. Yet, from the instant I saw this one on Phil’s place posted by Tori….I knew I wanted it. Pink Leather Chaps?!?! PLEASE! Continue reading

I've been framed

Okay, I resisted the Lost Angel pose frames for over a month, but temptation won out in the long run. No wonder Lost Angel is doing the Seven Deadly Sins, they are the font of temptation.  Seriously, these frames are just plain fun….and they made the photo shoot to show off these great finds at Curious Kitties fun as well. OH! The Schadenfreude!

posted by Gidge Uriza

Schadenfreude is one of those shops I’ve heard about for quite some time but never managed to remember to check out. It just so happened recently that I wandered into the shop while the owner was there (she was very sweet for one of the undead – or fashionably zombified or whatever she was, she was cute!) and I enjoyed getting to talk to her about her designs. While there, I fell in LOVE with these chunky purple shoes. Continue reading

Two Men and a Pixel Truck

posted by Gidge Uriza

I WISH I’d had two men in any sort of truck this past two weeks as I underwent the nightmare of moving my entire life from point A to point B. But, let’s talk about the clothes and put all that ugliness, heavy lifting, and dirt behind us.

Ever go shopping with a friend whose clothes you NEVER really like?  Or maybe it’s their hair, or shoes. And they want you to embrace shop B or shop C because OMG they LOVE this place.  And are you like me? Do you FIND something to buy anyway because you know that they’ll be all depressed if you don’t buy something there? Continue reading
