My first thought today was to find some sort of horrible St Patrick’s Day nightmare and blog it as though I thought it were fitting.

I love subtle colors and how they play off each other. This outfit from Baiastice is a beautiful example, though it also comes in vibrant colors and prints.
I just read two books back to back that made me realize there is this whole genre of books with a similar form. I have read many of them over the years, but never realized what they were. I decided to call this genre Brilliant Friends books after Elena Ferrante’s magical Neapolitan Quartet and its first book My Brilliant Friend. The stories are all told by an adult woman looking back on an intense high school friendship that was formative, changing their lives in some way or another. The narrator is the more subdued friend, the quiet one, the follower who is remembering the brilliant, defiant, bold, brave and ultimately tragic friend. Tragedy can take many forms, not just death, but always, the narrator ends in a better place than the brilliant friend. Thinking about it, both the books I just read (Marlena and Please Proceed to the Exit) fit that model but not just them. There’s The Girls by Emma Cline, The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel, even All the Missing Girls by Megan Miranda, a mystery has the brilliant friend disappear, runaway or murder victim.
I saw a great fashion spread featuring Dominique Tipper in 1843 Magazine a friend brought over because we share a love of The Expanse. All the pictures were composites of the same clothing in different poses, though very different from this one. They all had black backgrounds and vibrantly colored prints. Still, it did inspire me to shoot some pics for a couple composites. Back when my SL inventory was hyper-organized, I filled a couple pose stands by type of pose rather than by pose-maker. Sit and lie poses all organized together. I decided to drag them out and realize that most of the pose-makers in the stands have closed up shop for one reason or another. Among those of us who have blogged for a few years (nine years for It’s Only Fashion), who does not miss the excellent and puntastic poses from Long Awkward Pose or the flash of recognition when seeing a celebrity-inspired iconic pose from Striking Poses?
While remembering the old, I will also celebrate the new. These Twiggy pants are from Poppy, the new fashion collaboration that opened this month. My shoes are from Juju, new to me and can be found at Shoetopia. The come in a fancy, print version as well.
The hair is from equally new-to-me RunAway and at Hairology. My shirt is from Tres Blah, at Collabor88 and the top underneath is an applier from Luxuria–the texturing half of Poppy. The skin is alaskametro’s Chi released at Skin Fair which just closed up shop, meaning you can find it in the store or marketplace.

Distance lends discretion, so I am beginning my post with a full body shot instead of the usual three-quarter photo I usually use. My blouse is a bit sheer and revealing and so closer, more detailed photos are below the cut on behalf of those who might be taking a peek while at work. I am repurposing a lovely lingerie bodysuit from Luxuria because as Reiss Field once said, “Everything is fair in love, war, and fashion.”
