Moments happen unexpectedly. Sometimes you can be just talking and you realize connections are forming, bonds are tightening and you didn’t see them coming at all. It’s those moments that can be bliss, joy, and all the other breathless good things that come from unexpected happiness. Continue reading →
I decided it is time to buckle up for Hair Fair and how better to do that than with the fabulously buckled dress from Zenith at Collabor88 this month. I added the incredible Bastet arm bands from Pixicat that were released at Arcade about 6 months ago and a pair of sunglasses from this month’s Baiastice releases for Collabor88. Continue reading →
Ralph Waldo Emerson reminds us not to look at sunset as the end, but as a promise of a new beginning. It seemed somewhat appropriate for this post featuring several items from the June showcase at Collabor88. Tomorrow is the final day. Collabor88’s sun sets at midnight, but brings the promise of a new dawn at midnight on the 8th when the July Showcase opens with its brand new theme, Treasured Memories. I so love that Collabor88 avoids the cliche themes and color schemes that tend to surround holidays.
June’s theme was crisp and clean and that’s how I feel in this lovely set from Zaara. The coverup comes in sheer and opaque options and fits perfectly over the swimsuit. There’s a HUD to specify the suit color and whether the trim is silver or gold Continue reading →
Once again Tres Blah rocks my socks at the Arcade. I gotta have it all. Actually – I have most of it now. I just love her work, it’s like she says “What does Gidge need?” and then makes that. Continue reading →
“It’s sweater weather,” my mom would’ve said. She would be right. A cool crisp breeze blows across Juicy and I realize I’m ready for pumpkins and cozy fireplaces. I’m ready for the oranges and browns and even the much maligned pumpkin spice. Continue reading →
There is a lot of speculation about what separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom. They used to say it was our ability to use tools, but I had a dog who used a stick as a lever to snap the boards in the fence. There’s a marvelous video of a crow using tools to get food. Some used to say it was language, but the more we learn of animals, the more we learn about their languages and realize that we made assumptions because we did not speak their language. There are those who say it is our consciousness that we will die that makes us human, but can someone see animals mourning and presume they have no sense of their own mortality? Others say it is how well we cooperate, but will we ever cooperate as well as bees and ants? Anyone who thinks about the size of an elephant or whale brain knows it cannot be brain size. Scientists spend a lot of time on this question and are coming to the conclusion it’s not just one thing that makes us human, but it is all about how we think. One of the key differences is our ability to imagine multiple scenarios, to build complex imagined constructions. Daydreams are part of this – not dreams – but the conscious self-aware wonder of daydreams. Continue reading →
One of the most satisfying pleasures in Second Life® is witnessing moment of true innovation – the imaginative brainstorms of creative people that change our ideas of what is possible. We did not have prim hair or flexi hair until someone thought of it. And then everyone thought, “Why didn’t I think of that?” Once someone thinks of it – it seems so obvious, doesn’t it?
Someone had to come up with the idea of a sculpted foot in a shoe. The Slink hands and feet were an innovation that sparked an explosion of mani/pedis and Slink-compatible shoes. I have seen capes and jackets before that come with poses so your arms go in the pockets, so when I first saw this cape from ISON, I did not realize how innovative it is. But those arms in my pockets are part of the cape. It comes with a collar and gloves that can be set to a range of colors using a HUD or turned off altogether. It’s magnificent and innovative and I wage we will see more outfits with built in gloves.
The hat hair from Little Bones is a perfect match, controlled by a HUD as well, from which I selected a red hat and teal band and silver metal findings. Continue reading →
I am petty. Any NPC that gave me trouble as I leveled up through WoW, the ones that killed me again and again, I have to go back and kick their asses now whenever I see them. Whether it be the cutpurses of Elwynn forest, or the various murlocks that sent me to the graveyard again and again, if I pass by them, BAM I kill them.
A few days ago there was a discussion of whether all the iterations of long hair have already been made. In other words, the “there is nothing new under the sun” argument that has been around for millennia. Well, take a look, and see if you think they are all the same.
You know, they say there are only 7 plots – but there are millions of stories.
