Arcade Angels

May You Find Some Comfort There

There’s all sorts of angelic options at The Arcade, but I did not take the usual route. I did add wings from The Secret Garden (tsg) but instead of rest of their angelic creation, I went the naughty angel route with this deliciously sexy Show Time dress from Blueberry.

May You Find Some Comfort There

This dress is much too short and bootylicious to be standard issue angelwear, but I don’t believe in standard issue clothing.

Last Chance for October’s Collabor88

If there are any pieces at Collabor88 that are MUST HAVE in your book now’s the moment. The doors will be shutting for a reset and November goodies will be raining down on us like mana from heaven.

Or something. Continue reading

Adam n Eve n Things For (the) Fall

Fall is sweeping the US and most of us not on the upside down part of the earth. My typist had taken a much needed brain break and had left me to my own designs for quite a while but luckily the cozy good things at Collabor88 this month kept me warm and also quite pretty.

Among the other great things that have happened in SL, one of my favorite skinners Sachi Vixen released appliers for Catwa called MORGANA. I’m wearing her tone called TA – or as I like to call it, pasty white girl. I like the options she gives with her appliers, but I wish her HUD was bigger – I can’t actually read any of the words on my screen. I just click till i sort out what they are. That doesn’t matter in the end when the result is this pretty. Continue reading

A Comfy-Cozy Coat

Style is a way to say who you are without having to speak. Rachel Zoe

I am loving this big puffy coat from Baiastice for this month’s Collabor88. A puffy faux fur dyed a brilliant blue, it also comes in several other colors. There are thigh high boots that coordinate as well, but I went in a different direction.

The Love We Think We Deserve

Moments happen unexpectedly. Sometimes you can be just talking and you realize connections are forming, bonds are tightening and you didn’t see them coming at all. It’s those moments that can be bliss, joy, and all the other breathless good things that come from unexpected happiness. Continue reading

Let Me Sing You The Song Of My Hair Fair People

Ok it might not have a song. IT SHOULD HAVE A SONG. But even without a song, it’s rather nice. Today I went about in a new to me brand called STEALTHIC who is lovely to wear – especially because their blonde is gorgeous and beige.  Continue reading

Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn

Every sunset brings the promise of a new dawn.

Ralph Waldo Emerson reminds us not to look at sunset as the end, but as a promise of a new beginning. It seemed somewhat appropriate for this post featuring several items from the June showcase at Collabor88. Tomorrow is the final day. Collabor88’s sun sets at midnight, but brings the promise of a new dawn at midnight on the 8th when the July Showcase opens with its brand new theme, Treasured Memories. I so love that Collabor88 avoids the cliche themes and color schemes that tend to surround holidays.

June’s theme was crisp and clean and that’s how I feel in this lovely set from Zaara. The coverup comes in sheer and opaque options and fits perfectly over the swimsuit. There’s a HUD to specify the suit color and whether the trim is silver or gold

Hoppy Easter…Trite Titles FTW

I think we all know that I like silly things. If I can combine silly things with non silly things I’m even happier. So today I’m doing just that. I’ve got a really lovely dress from Collabor88 this month, some shoes and rose accessories with….EASTER JOY! YESSSS! Continue reading

The cultivation and perfection of human beings

“The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings.”In The One-Straw Revolution, Masanobu Fukuoka wrote “The ultimate goal of farming is not the growing of crops, but the cultivation and perfection of human beings.” Like many people, including our founders, he has this idea that only farmers do noble labor. This is all very nice and romantic, but there is an ugly side to it. We see that same idea when politicians call rural America the heartland or “real America” as though we city dwellers were inferior to them. Thomas Jefferson was even more explicit, saying working for a wage and was corrupting and industry would destroy American, meanwhile those who labor in the earth are the “chosen people of god” and the only people he thought should have political power.

The belief our founders had in the superiority of the agrarian life and agrarian people had profound effects on our Constitution. That belief extends to exaggerating the political power of rural states and rural voters in many ways. One Wyoming voter counts as much as four New York voters when voting for president. It is even more inequitable in the Senate, a Vermont voter getting counting 30 times more than a New York voter. The United States Senate is the least democratic legislative chamber in the developed world. The 38 million people who live in the nation’s 22 smallest states, including Wyoming, are represented by 44 senators. The 38 million residents of California are represented by two senators.

I think about these things when I am hopping about the grid looking for a nice place to shoot a picture.
