Gidge's Love List: The Good Blondes – PART TWO

It’s time for more of my FAVORITEST blondes on the grid.
I think you guys were afraid that I wasn’t going to include the rest of the BIG BALLERS when I lead off with Truth and Exile. FAR BE IT from the truth, I just thought I’d space stuff around a bit and not just do all the big guns at once.
I’m starting off with LAQ today and I have to totally admit that this is my original long hair love.
And Mallory Cowan gave me my first ever hair and skin review copies when I was a new blogger.
The JUNE hair pictured in the big photo, and the Top Picture – which is Love Affair, are two great examples of gorgeous long hair from LAQ and were my first review hairs.

I’m also wearing JENNIE by LAQ bcse I was in an LAQ kinda mood! Continue reading

Life Sized Candy Bars

Aug16b_010.jpg

Do you ever just put together an outfit not really knowing where you are headed until you get there? I was planning to put together something to wear with some boots and look where I ended up today. I vaguely remembered a brown skirt I have, but could not recall the maker. After working my way through my Skirts/Brown/ folder and coming up empty, I thought I might check my Ivalde/L’Abel folder. Well, I still didn’t find what I was looking for, but was completely distracted by the awesomeness that is this fabulous brown pencil skirt from L’Abel. The blouse is also from L’Abel and has a ruffled peplum style bottom that I left off in order to wear it tucked in.

My exploring feet took me to Risk City this time – and what a fun place it is. There are several installations in Risk City, each a stand alone work of art. This one if Chocolate – and it’s as yummy looking as the name.

Peaches, Cream & Candy

Although my favorite color is green, I don’t always choose the green colored dress since some greens can be tricky to style, but peachy coral colored dresses are irresistible for me. You cannot go wrong. Peach is such a feminine and soft color that always makes me feel good and look good. This lovely dress is a perfect complement to the peaches and cream complexion of PXL Creations Pale Candy skin tone that was released today.

With the release of Pale, all of the Candy skin tones  (Tan, Light Tan, Sunkissed, Natural and Pale) have finally been released. The Pale tone is a delicate porcelain – fairest of the fair. The particular option I am wearing is with natural eyes and lips – as bare as it comes and it’s still a beautifully delicate skin.

Tornado Alley

Second Life has its own version of Tornado Alley @ napoliy  – that marvelous vintage furnishing store. It was the place I thought of when I saw this Karen dress from L’Abel with the lovely print of a miniature on the skirt. The dress, while as modern in form and fabric as can be, is an homage to the past with its use of a 19th century miniature in the print. The subdued earthy colors made me think of the odd light in the air before a tornado that subdues even the most vivid colors.

Napoliy is actually a small parcel that is closed off with large prims of the gathering storm, a perpetually incipient funnel cloud preparing to rampage through the small village. I love the mood of the looming menace – particularly as I know this storm is always about to rage, but never actually does. Having grown up in tornado country and spent many hours in the cellar waiting for the all clear, it’s lovely to be able to experience and recall that awful clarity and silence right before the the roaring train whistle of a tornado.  Just before the tornado sweeps in, even the frogs and crickets silence themselves in anxious anticipation.

Fabulous Florals

I used to have a dress very similar to this – a fitted bodice, short sleeves, full skirt with the fabric a glorious garden of orange and yellow flowers. I loved it and wore it and wore and wore it – until I wore it out. It was not a lovely silk challis like this one, but a very light-weight cotton and was just loved to death. Poor dress! I miss it. So what a joy to discover a dress so similar – and with a much more durable and luxurioius fabric.

Inis Caiseal

It’s so easy to find beauty in Second Life – and not just in fashion, but in the landscapes, the art, the music and the friendships. If you look for beauty, you will find it. If you look for wonder, you will find it. It’s that kind of seek and you shall find sort of place. Inis Caiseal is one of three contiguous sims that make up the Alchemy Immortalis archipelago.  Despite knowing it makes me sound inane, I have to confess I love the word archipelago. It has such a funky sound to it. Raise your hands if you like how some words sound irrespective of their meaning!

OKay, to the business at hand – showing off the gorgeous new jacket from L’Abel.  More accurately, it’s part of a suit that includes some quilted knee-length shorts. I am not a great lover of shorts or quilted bottoms of any sort, but adore the structure of the jacket. This is a must have in every color – it’s beautifully formed and carefully made and I love it! The only thing that would make it more perfect is to have the option of a prim for the jacket’s bottom in addition to the system skirt. Then it could be worn with system skirts or with pants. Flexibility is always a win in my book.

Party Dress

Gidge & I had a party on Saturday and we really need to have parties more often. It was a lot of fun. I wore this gorgeous new dress from  L’Abel that is perfect party wear. It’s got that frilly skirt that is perfect for dancing since it covers up all the funny dance positions our animations can bring us to, but it’s nice and short to show off the dancing shoes.

So We Had a Party!

posted by Gidge Uriza

Cajsa and I had a spectacle of a party to celebrate just the fun that is our life and what perfect timing that Neferia Abel released her summer collection for L’Abel? I ran straight over and picked up goodness and just knew that this was exactly what I wanted to wear for the party. Continue reading

Jenay

Neferia Abel, of Ivalde fame, has released a massive new collection under her contemporary label, L’Abel. Many other bloggers and I will probably be highlighting everything over the coming few weeks, but I wanted to start my exploration of the new release with Jenay. I chose Jenay as it seems to carry some of the vintage inspiration that animates the Ivalde label with the contemporary forms of L’Abel.

Noir³ Argent²

I was thinking it would be fun to do color formulas like we do chemical formulas. Instead of H2O, we could write Bl4Si2 when we wore four elements in black and 2 in silver. Or, we could do it in French to make it more obscure and seem more fashionable and chic and write out Nr4Ar2. Yes, there you have it. Sometimes my mind goes off on odd tangents and speculative journeys.  This outfit sent me off on that journey while I was wondering how to explain what in the heck I am doing wearing black hair. Actually, the explanation is quite simple. I saw this hairstyle from !syDS! for the Accessory Fair and just love it – and they only made it in black and white and it’s no mod so I could not tint it. In between thinking about sending out a call to Redheads of the World to Unite and storm the barricades and swooning over its bold and audacious styling, I just had to wear it. Even if it’s not red.  So one of the black elements is the hair.
