Calling on the Classics

After the avant garde funkiness of the Kitty coat yesterday, I felt a need to reach for the classics – those wonderful trusty items that never fail. And what could be more classic than a lovely plaid skirt, an oxford-cloth shirt and a cardigan. This stunningly well-made shirt is from Muism – and the prim parts fit flawlessly with just a tiny bit of adjustment. With it, I wore the Irelyn Houndstooth scarf to match the fabric in the Vogart skirt.

The skirt is from Vogart and as always is a perfectly made a-ling prim skirt.  I wish Vogart made more skirts because Vogart skirts are the most well-made I have. They simply look perfect everytime. The cardigan is from Frangipani Designs – a simple classic with classic good looks. Continue reading

Tree Hugging

Looking at the clear cut can be pretty sad, but over the hill there’s replanting. In fact, you can help support reforestation by going to the Happy Clam Island Reforestation Project and hugging a tree. Hugging a tree for 20 to 30 minutes while you are going through your day’s notes and message will pay to replant one tree. Or, you can just pay a tree directly. Just go and find a healthy uncut tree and give it a hug. It will thank you. And that should make you happy as a clam. Continue reading

Where'd You Get That? Don't Ask…….

posted by Gidge Uriza

I received a big old box o’ hair from House of Heart the other day, and while strapped to my dressing stand trying it on, Miffy popped over to see what I was up to and to tell me she had some new releases.  When I got to Jordan (shown) she said “Here, model this with that one” and passed me the newest release at Don’t Ask..the fur trimmed pantsuit and shoes.

The coffee bean color hair was an easy choice to go with this outfit. This is one of my favorite designs of Miffy’s, it reminds me a mafia wife who bought couture. It’s fun and no pixel animals were harmed in the making of this fur. Continue reading

Don't Cry For Me, I'm Evita

Posted by Gidge Uriza

A good friend of mine always keeps a large stable of women in SL. He gives them land and houses and they sometimes rotate who is #1 and sometimes there is a long term #1 like now, but no matter what – when Evita blows into town – all bets are off. Continue reading

An Inventory of 22k Begins With A Single Pair of Shoes

posted by Gidge Uriza

After my first few days in SL it became apparent that I wasn’t in Kansas anymore, so when sent off to buy “one decent pair of shoes” I found myself again the old X3d (now Digit Darkes) and walked right up to her DOROTHY shoes it seemed fortuitous. Realizing that these shoes would not match ANYTHING I owned, I think I made the decision then and there that all future purchases were going to have to MATCH my GOOD SHOES.

The Blingtard Crew I hung out with at the time (they are all dead to me now so I disparage them freely) were horrified by my shoe choice. “What do they GO with?” “Do they have a bling option?” “You could’ve gotten TWO pair of shoes for that price!” Continue reading

Oh Mighty Isis

posted by Gidge Uriza

I am probably one of the only ones in SL who is old enough to REMEMBER the Isis/Shazaam power hour but I promise you, it was one of the GREAT moments of Saturday morning television during my childhood.

I popped into Prinny’s Prims jewelry based on a Fashcon notice several days ago because I’d never heard of her and I always need new jewelry. She had advertised a sweet freebie (not pictured) but while wandering the store I saw THIS – THE ISIS NECKLACE!!! Continue reading

Mix to Match

If you noticed Second Life® tilting slightly the other day, that was when Zaara released her newest design, a long dress called Calangute that comes with absolute outrageous belting on the jacket layer and everyone rushed to get their own. These belts will get their use. I made a copy and pasted it into my belts folder so I remember to use them with other outfits. This is the chocolate version of the dress and it comes with a lovely long textured skirt that I was not in the mood to wear. I wanted knee length but I remembered that I had a dress from DP Serendipity that was a very similar color and sure enough, the skirt from that dress was a perfect match. I used the other dress’s pants layer to make sure the seams and highlights lined up. I was more than happy with the result.

Another photo and style notes after the cut.

Glam It Up for Shopping

So I decided to go check out Viva la GLAM, eager to see what they have done. I decided to fortify myself before heading out to the sim, just as a sensible shopper has a snack before going to the grocery store. So, I dressed and accessorized and all round glammed up. Not that this stopped me from going downright silly when I saw the great necklaces and bangles at Viva la GLAM, but I tried.

I started out with a lovely pink dress from Pink, formerly SeVan, called Tessa. I don’t know if you have been to SeVan, but if you haven’t, it’s a treat. The clothes are arranged by color there – and for some reason, I just love seeing all the reds and all the greens in their groups. I added the Tropical Heels from Digit Darkes that I picked up at the RFL Fashion Expo last weekend and the luscious Glam Earrings from creamshop. You can get them in several colors. Believe it or not, the set comes with an even more massive set of earrings.

There are many more photos on my Flickr.

If you go out in the woods today…

I went for a walk in the woods today and thought this lovely floral challis dress suited my mood perfectly. From ACgirl, It’s actually a babydoll, but I lowered the skirt prim to better suit my preference for dresses with a waist. The woods were lovely, dark and deep… but thankfully I could teleport so it was a quick trip home.

More photos on Flickr. There’s an additional photo and style notes after the jump.
