In Bloom

Every once in a while someone makes a dress that makes everyone stop and take a breath and sigh. The newest dress from Mimikri is that kind of dress. There is a black version that is all black – which makes it a very different dress – and equally striking, but the sheer springlike femininity of the pink, blue and yellow versions of this dress is unrivaled. The skirt is a riot of flowers with a ruched satin bodice and it’s absolutely luscious.

Happy Holidays!

Hoping all of you who celebrate Passover or Easter have a wonderful holiday with family, friends and fellowship.  In celebration, I thought I might dress like an easter egg. 🙂 Actually, this is TOSL’s wonderful High Tea dress perfect for the garden party or other celebrations of spring and sunshine. Gidge would also be sending her good wishes but is on holiday.

Art & Fashion

Lady Thera’s Art & Fashion is the store for art lovers who also love fashion. She doesn’t just plop a picture on a t-shirt but rather samples the original art in order to create patterns with which she creates new and original work. Her sampling is so well done, you might call her LT Cool, but you had probably better not. This dress is based on William Turner’s work. Turner was the master of painting sea and sky which you can sense from this dress. There’s a marvelous online collection at the Tate Online.

This picture, by the way, was shot at MDR Photo Park – on the black field, a huge flat black plane. I then just rezzed some surreal flowers from MiaSnow including an artichoke tree. Because I am not landscaping, I can stack flowers on top of flowers, making a sort of box of flowers and get a full background with any gaps filled in by the black field. It’s a fun, fast and easy way to make an impressionistic background like this.

Fashionable Relay Challenge #30

How many of us thought it would take more than two months to work our way through the Fashionable Relay Challenge – and that we have is testament to the inspiration and guiding force behind the challenge Sasy Scarborough – and she will surely see us through to the end. I have enjoyed seeing the varied but always well-executed outfits throughout the challenge, but none more so than Elisabeth of Ou la la mode, so I was very pleased when Sasy asked me to pick up the baton after her. So, her outfit has several elements that I would love to build an outfit from including the jeans, vest, belt, hair and shoes. I ran around checking them out and finally decided on the Wide Belt Embossing from Coco because I needed a good casual prim belt.

Going Dotty for Van Gogh

I had the original Van Gogh dress from Lady Thera’s Art & Fashion, but last night while I was talking to her about another outfit that is no longer on sale, she recalled some photos my ex shot of me in that dress and sent me a newer edition. Much sexier, she said.  It sure is. It comes in two version – with a prim skirt or with the system skirt. With the system skirt, you can even do some navel-gazing. The one I am wearing is the one with the prim skirt. Yup, very sexy.

Take My Breath Away

Evangeline Miles makes some of the most beautiful gowns in Second Life® - in fact, she should include an oxygen tank with every dress package because her gowns are always breath-taking. The most stunning, I think, is this one, the Imperial Moon gown - a gown so lovely I have bought it twice.

Watching every motion in my foolish lover’s game
On this endless ocean finally lovers know no shame
Turning and returning to some secret place inside
Watching in slow motion as you turn around and say

Take my breath away
Take my breath away

On the Line

Ah, that’s just a silly title solely drummed up because the name of the dress is Line.  There’s really nothing on the line in this post other than hoping you like the dress and the styling. The name comes from the name of the dress – line. Yes, line, not stripe. Of course, On the Stripe makes no sense whatever, so small mercies.   I really liked this dress the instant I saw it. I love the texturing done on the bodice and the justaposition of cream, pumpkin and mango orange.

My Hair Is On Fire

Well, not really, but it sure looks like it. And it certainly could be given Gidge going all drama on us! However, I will still try to keep the drama free pledge and focus on this adorable little mashup. The blouse comes from one of those excesses of goodness you get at Bare Rose – the Angela jacket. You know June would never just give you a fat pack of jackets without something extra like this fabulouse white blouse that goes under the jacket.  The skirt is made by maruko05 Aya whose store Shirohato is in Japan Village – a wonderful place for finding surprises. The skirt comes with a perfectly lovely white blouse, I just wanted to wear one that went all out with the outrageous prim collar like this gorgeous one from Bare Rose.

If only it were warmer

Kunglers has created the perfect hot weather dress, one that has fabulous vents along your back to keep you cool and breezy.  Yes, that inset in the back is open  an open mesh providing not only the visual interest of different sized dots, but some nice cool breezes on your spine on hot sultry days. It’s been awwhile since I showed you something from Kunglers – perhaps, as I discovered this weekend, because I misfiled everything they sent me last time in my folder of Velentine hunt items that I have nott opened yet.  Anyway, the sisters dropped the lovely Adelle blouse and skirt combo on me this weekend and like so many Kunglers outfits, it is replete with extras such as the bangle and pearl necklace I  am wearing.

Wake Up!

There’s nothing like a bright sunny dress to wake you up and lift your mood when your spirits are dragging. Every once in awhile the 222 cloudy days we get each year gets oppressive and I need some sunshine. Sure, I use the full spectrum lightbulbs but I mean I need some bright sunny pop of warmth. That’s when I turn to fashion. This dress from LiNe is a sunny day on a hangar and ready for you to take out of your closet anytime you need some sun.
