Some of the lovely things presented at Penumbra fashion week this time were bridal gowns. I’m not a big fan usually, so I was intrigued though to see something very understated and elegant from Ever An’ Angel for Penumbra and had to put it on. When I was newer in SL, my friends and I would often put on wedding dresses and run around the grid being mad and silly. This gown seemed to deserve an elegant backdrop. I think I found the perfect place for the SL wedding I won’t have.
It doesn’t have a lot of seating for guests but that’s ok. I might actually bring Gidge back over here for tea and cakes when she’s done working – it’s rather lovely in it’s amazing white wash of light.
There is even a fairytale-like carriage to bring me to the ceremony. Yes, this is a perfect spot.
There are a few more shopping days left of the Pretty In Punk round of Collabor88 and you won’t want to miss it. Look at this gorgeous dress from ISON for this round. It comes in several solid colors and well as two plaids and these gorgeous stripes. I love ISON’s contemporary style, minimalist and fashion forward with just a few details that reflect the designer’s discipline. You will never hear Nina say “it’s over-designed” about anything from ISON because the designer in control. Continue reading →
Once upon a time I made a mad dash to Artilleri because I had to have all of the things. Right about the time I got all the things, mesh came and made all the things I had just gotten obsolete. Or did it? Continue reading →
Collabor88’s theme for the month is Miami Electric – featuring the electric tropical colors that bring to mind that sunny city. I have never been to Miami, so all I know about it is from the media. Those aerial shots in CSI Miami make it look like an architectural center of excellence – beautiful and pristine. Real Housewives made it seem less than perfect, let’s say but, of course, the strongest influence on my impression of Miami is the infamous Florida man. Let’s just say Florida man probably does not shop at Collabor88. Continue reading →
I headed back to LEA29 to see the completed art exhibit by FreeWee Ling before it disappears. You should go quickly. Set your graphics to high with the shadows turned to Sun, Moon & Projectors – as most of the exhibit is an exploration of projectors and the light and shadows they cast.
While I focused on the black and white elements, there is a lot of color in the installation – particularly from light projectors.
OMGAH A FASHION BLOGGER WEARING OLD HAIR! (That pic is for you Alicia !)
I am on the hunt for a smaller inventory but as I’m digging in and going through the lot of it, I confess I’m pulling out a thing or two and seeing what it is. This hair from TRUTH reminded me that I need to keep my eye on “boy hair” releases more often, because although this is an older hair, boy hair is always great for showing off earrings and skin because it’s up and out of your way.
The hair is a little older and a little dated (amazing what even months can mean now, in how we expect things to look, much less YEARS) but I had to give it one last spin. YOU SERVED ME WELL HAIR. Continue reading →
I had a hard time deciding what to put on today, and I might have to change again because I have more gowns than I have social occasions. This gown from MIAMAI fit exactly what I was looking for in elegant when I thought of NYE this morning. Continue reading →
It’s been a while since we have featured a guest stylist here at It’s Only Fashion, but after I ran into Maeve Byron at the Mahrathon this weekend, I had to ask her to volunteer. She said she liked the blog, so of course, I wanted to feature her. Besides, she was a generous supporter of the Mahrathon – which raised 322,000 lindens for Heifer International. Yay!
According to Maeve, “I guess my style puts comfort as the main priority. Although fashion blogs like A Passion For Virtual Fashion, Juicybomb and of course It’s Only Fashion have inspired me, I don’t really jump on cutting edge style; I prefer a more classic look…maybe it’s an age thing. I like to look smart, tasteful, cute and approachable.”
The Acid Lily event returning was a bit like “Hmmmm, have I heard of this event? I THINK I have…. What is it?” Let’s face it, there are so many events, sometimes it’s tough to separate the wheat from the chaff. But I don’t like chaff, so let’s talk about an event that definitely goes in the wheat bin. Continue reading →
