Emerrem and Berthaweiss are two sisters whose bonds in their real life just make their Second Live richer. Their store, .EMBW. was new to me at this year’s Hair Fair and I was excited to see their creations, particularly since I am always complaining there is not enough short hair.
It’s Only Fashion: What’s the craziest thing you ever did in Second Life? Most exciting? Silliest? Is there a story you can share that captures your Second Life experience?
Emerrem and Bertha Weiss: WE LOVE DOING SILLY THINGS! We also photograph every silly moment. Like one time I wanted to see the creator of the little fairies, I tried to select “Edit” but my mouse went wrong to “Sit here,” the next moment I sit on that little fairy’s head with a silly sitting pose, and she carried me up and up and then stuck into the wall. xD Continue reading →
I am always thrilled by designers who do not take their inspirations too literally, but instead use them as a springboard to develop something completely unexpected. Such is the case with Valentina Evangelista of Valentina E. who used the idea of the poisoned apple in Snow White to come up with this dress. Released in quite dangerous shades of green, red and black, it contains many of the elements that suggest danger from the snakeskin it’s made of to the sinuous femme fatale design. It is a creative expression of the inspiration and totally unexpected. Continue reading →
I love the new casual releases from Kunglers. The top and pants I am wear are both from their newest release which included three tops and one pair of pants, all in a range of colorful prints that are the Kunglers hallmark. The soft blue and green print in this top is so subtle and subdued that it made an easy and elegant pairing with the boldly patterned pants.
Envy, one of the Seven Sins Gacha Skins from PXL Creations.
Noting once again the delicious coincidence of PXL Creations releasing the Seven Sins Gacha skins the same week that Buckcherry released the Seven Sins as part of their Confessions album, I was elated to see then newest release from Shiki featuring a dress called Envy. Seriously, does serendipity get any better than that?
I’ve been watching you all day and night I bet you’d make someone a perfect wife My infatuation burns inside I envy you and want you in my life.
I see you moving towards me, I feel it deep inside, My mind, I can’t control it, I wish I had your life.
She’s got everything, I hate it cause I envy him And he doesn’t care like I do. She’s got everything, I hate it cause I envy him And he doesn’t care like I do. Continue reading →
I loved the new off-the-shoulder top from Peqe so much that it overcame my usual resistance to bare-midriff clothing. Normally I would have paired it with high-waisted pants or a skirt, but there was something so whimsical about it that I pulled on this shorts from Pink Outfitters with an adorable belted bow.
Gizza has released a fun new dress that is totally Rock & Roll. Now if I could purchase some musical talent. And if that musical talent was half as hot as this Starlight dress, I might make the Cover of the Rolling Stone.
A gorgeous sweater dress like this Argyle Plaid dress from CIA for FAIR can garner a lot of calls and compliments. Hugging the figure, it highlights your curves with a sleek and chic shape. The bold pink in the Argyle makes it young and modern as dose the outsize pattern of the plaid. I added a fun and frisky little clutch from Just Design for the With Love hunt that starts on Friday. Covered in hearts of every shade of pink and red, it’s sure to win your heart if you can find it.
A chiffonzie is a designer who automatically reaches for the silk chiffon when making a dress. It’s a new term coined by some Project Runway competitors to refer to a small cadre of drape-addicted designers who seem to only design with silk chiffon. Appolonia Criss is not a chiffonzie. She uses all sorts of fabrics and designs highly structured as well as soft, flowing work. However, this silk chiffon dress is a wonderful example of what a chiffonzie can do – make a delightfully feminine froth of a dress.
This stunning gown from Loovus Dzevavor for Vintage Fair is another of those gowns that I can imagine being worn by one of the great singers, singing songs of passion and power. Perhaps even that old, old blues wonder, Don’t Mess with the Messer
I’m gonna cross the crosser I’m gonna cheat the cheater I’m gonna use the user and then beat the beater You can’t mess with the messer The messer gonna mess with you
I have not had space to rez my old house from Y’s House in ages, but I do now so I have pulled it out of my inventory and decided to snap some pictures before I furnished.
