Bow(l)ed Over

apr19_005

This adorable little sweater dress from Bowtique is so sweet with its peppermint pink striped inset down the front, the double row of ribbons and the pink pearl buttons. However, it is saved from being saccharine thanks to a sharp, flat collar and the ribbed selvage at the bottom. If that collar had been rounded and if there were a ruffled skirt, this dress would rot your teeth. Instead, it satisfies your sweet tooth without causing any cavities.

Bright Lights

The next highlight from the Accessory Fair is Ganked – a store that took the feed by storm a few weeks ago with bold, contemporary large necklaces in abstract shapes. Their creationa for the Accessory Fair  are equally bold and attention-grabbing – including this gorgeous yellow set called Broadway Lights. This is actually a freebie being offered by them at the Accessory Fair.

Vaudeville Dance Party

Vaudeville was the great entertainment of the 1880’s to the 1930’s – a variety show of comedy, singers, musicians and any act that could fill the seats. American burlesque grew out of vaudeville and continues to this day with neo-burlesque geniuses like Dita Von Teese.  The Designers United group have honored that heritage with their most recent exhibition and in that spirit, It’s Only Fashion is throwing a party tomorrow night at 8 pm at The Deck – graciously offered by Sasy Scarborough. It will feature vaudeville and burlesque music and some that could be.

Bijou Beauties

I am in love with the new high-waisted skirts from Bijou. The come in bold, vibrant primary colors and black and white tank tops with a lovely ruffle collar. The tank top is fairly ordinary and the collar really needs a more substantial top than what is provided – though most of us have some white and black button downs that would do the trick in a pinch. The skirt – though- that’s the gem in this outfit with body-flattering curved panels that could make a twig look curvy and shapely – this is a flattering, hot and sexy skirt. The zipper and grommet details, the curving tulip shape that reveals a lot of leg, every effort has been made to make this dress hawt. Be careful while dressing that you don’t scorch your fingers.

The Binomial Coefficient of a Bombshell

The new Bombshell dress from Bijou is an entire wardrobe in and of itself. Well, okay, that’s a slight exaggeration. Nonetheless, exploring all the options will make you crazy. There’s at least three different ways of wearing the top: bra, blouse, blouse with white sash, not to even mention to wear or not to wear the collar or the little black shrug.  And there’s even more skirt options. Let’s just say that the following formula would just get you started.

As Summer Wanes…

I am not going to jump too quickly into fall and the coming seven months of non-ending clouds, mist and rain. I am going to hang onto summer by the fingernails and drag every bit of sunny weather out of it that I can. So…even in celebration of the glorious sun that is shining today…shining in Oregon in September…I am wearing this lovely bright floral dress from Bijou and pretending it’s June and there’s still months of dry weather ahead.

Chicago, Chicago

I went to The Velvet yesterday for one of Maht’s special sets – this time a Chicago set featuring musicians from Chicago. It was a great set with songs by Wilco, Andrew Bird, Poi Dog Pondering and dozens more great Chicago musicians. I felt lazy and just lolled on the couch instead of dancing and could not choose better lolling clothes than this top and skirt from Mood.G.  The dark blue top is also a great setting to show of the fabulous new necklace from Zaara. She has been releasing some amazing jewelry lately. Her Statement Earrings and Bangles were just appetizers, though, for the fabulous necklaces released this weekend.  I was not feeling the best yesterday and was only online for a little over an hour and got three compliments on that necklace. Since I only saw about 8 people in that time, that’s pretty amazing.

Winter Wheat

I guess because I grew up next to the Red River Valley of the North, whenever I see the phrase winter white my mind thinks of winter wheat. It’s a form of wheat that’s planted in the fall, needing the cold to flower. Of course, sometimes the winter is too hard and it kills off the crop, but then farming is possibly the only form of gambling legal in every country of the world.  Now I would not wear these Novocaine winter white pants on the farm – but this truly is a perfect farm girl goes to town outfit, after all they are officially called City Slacks.

Jazmin & Clyde

Bonnie & Clyde may have come to a bad end, but I think Jazmin and Clyde roll together famously and will ramble along until a comfortable retirement in some distant inventory purge.  The Clyde in this outfit is the new line of ribbon-tied ankle boots from Digit Darkes.  Jazmin is the marvelous minidress from Bare Rose that is as soft, romantic and frilly as can be…and flexible as well, wearable as a blouse or dress (just drop the  prim) and comes in several colors. I chose the wear the black dress for this shoot.

Agent Provacateur

A friend on Plurk mentioned being a bit tired of multi-layered outfits on the feed – which given she’s from Texas makes perfect sense to me. However, living in a place that goes from chilly to steamy in the course of a day, I love me some layers. Besides, I feel an ornery streak coming on and want to tweak her nose a bit…even if she did give me at atta’girl today. What can I say, I am a provacateur.
