No One Even Cares

I get that way sometimes when someone is blathering on in a crazy way.

If ten people do the same thing you do without drama, and you are constantly being “dragged into drama” perhaps just perhaps …..it’s you.

Some things this veteran old blogger can tell you which can, in fact, help you decrease your level of drama are as follows.

  1.  No one is copying your style. No one. If someone IS copying your style please refer to the first sentence. There is a limited number of heads, bodies, and clothes in this world. If someone happens to recreate what you did – or hell just likes the way you did it and dresses up like that too – IT DOES NOT MATTER. Your style is way more than the thinks you choose to wear.  If it’s not – you fail.
  2. If you aren’t getting paid you don’t have sponsors quit rambling on about it.
  3. You are not obligated to 23589723948 blog posts a day. If you DO that many blog posts a day don’t bitch about it. No one requires you to do that.
  4. Creators are right to have expectations, as well do events. That doesn’t mean they own you. Flailing about regarding your “obligations” is just weird bragging. Don’t bitch and moan. Do what you’re supposed to do and move along. OR DON’T SIGN UP FOR MORE THAN YOU CAN SUPPORT.

No Resolutions

No Resolutions

2018 is off to a rocky start with a five-day stay at the hospital. I am home again, thankfully, and recovering. Oddly enough, though, I seem to have picked up vertigo at the hospital. I know you can’t do that, but I did anyway. So the world is a spinny, dizzy, silly place. It’s really odd. I can turn to the left just fine, but turning to the right makes me dizzy. I see political implications in this. Turning to the right is bad for you.

What’s not bad for you? The refulgent abundance of this month’s fabulous Collabor88 showcase. The theme is Moody Blooms, a clever pun that is overshadowed by the rich, lush, floral blossoming of creativity to enjoy this month. For example, this gorgeous dress from Baiastice has a HUD that allows you to choose solids or the gorgeous floral lace. I love the luxe beauty. There’s this homage to medieval forms with the lines of the bodice. I love the lace peplum, though it’s more flattering than the usual peplum by laying close to the body rather than adding lots of width.

Snow Jedi

Cajsa put up a new house and I had to come over to check it out. My problem is that I get one house up and don’t want to change. Yet – I love the idea of being able to mix stuff up all the time. I am strongly now officially considering changing houses.  Especially when I walk through the beautiful work of Barnesworth Anubis and think of all the decorating possibilities. This lovely Hever manor house is still available at Collabor88. You can pick it up and pretend you’re a Boleyn! Continue reading

Impervious to Cold

The season of cold impervious avatars has begun

Every holiday season I am amused by our avatar’s seeming imperviousness to cold. We rush about with open-toed shoes and barely there dresses in the snow and ice and not one of us feels a bit of cold. This gorgeous dress by Cynful for Collabor88 would be all covered up by a heavy coat in the real world.

The days of winter sunshine

“This winter, there will be no voices, no glimpses, no arms. only the fabric of poetry, to keep me warm.”

“Are the days of winter sunshine just as sad for you, too? When it is misty, in the evenings, and I am out walking by myself, it seems to me that the rain is falling through my heart and causing it to crumble into ruins.”

I’m Actually Quite Busy

There might be a little confusion regarding my level of leisure around these parts because of the recent article in The Atlantic where I was mentioned. It was a lot of fun to be a part of the project and I really did enjoy it. But I do think the author didn’t really understand that a blogger WORKS around these parts.

In fact, let’s face it – it’s my job here on the grid. I’m a writer and a sharer of fashion and other things to enhance your digital life. Sometimes I tell stories, sometimes I blather on about things I like. That’s who I am and what I do.

To start with there’s a lot of shopping involved. No one is invited to cover ALL the events (although that’d be nice yo) so no matter how many how many events you’re an official blogger for you’re still going to go place to place doing a bit of shopping. Usually in stilettos. Continue reading

And the World Turns Round and Round

Snapshot_002

So today has been an emotional one. A year ago today my sister died after a long battle with cancer. Today, her granddaughter brought her first great-grandchild – an entirely new generation – into the world. Isn’t that magical? She was due last week, but she waited several days to arrive on the most perfect day she could. So forgive me for not describing much, it’s hard to see the screen through tears, though they are more happy ones than sad ones.

So Much Sunday

They say you shouldn’t drink alone and I suppose that’s true, I can tend to get maudlin or too happy or sometimes both things depending on the time of day.  My Sunday had a lot of shopping and some visiting planned but I only got to the shopping, so I decided to stay in and have some dinner and tv alone.

It felt like a great plan at the time.

Halfway into the bottle of red though I just began to feel like I’d wasted a day and maybe I should’ve gotten more done. Who knows our SL time runs so fast, it’s difficult to get to everything, or heck to anything some days, with all the body switch and head switching I do.

Sigh, I think I wasted my day. Isn’t it a terrible feeling? There was only one solution for it. Watch movies and cry.  Continue reading

Under the Wire

Is Late Better than Never?

You have a few hours to get to Collabor88 before this deliciously neutral theme goes away and the rich harvest colors come in. It will be good as well, but I have a love of neutrals and the romantic delicacies that were the highlight of September. This sweater from The Secret Store beautiful encapsulates the September SweetCheeks theme with its lace and pearl buttons.

Is Late Better than Never?

Baiastice’s Chause trousers are a lovely illustration that neutrals can be bold.
