She Sells Sea Shells at The Arcade

“Everybody needs a seashell in her bathroom to remind her the ocean is her home.”

22769 has a beautiful conch shell in their “Fisherman’s Delight” gacha at The Arcade. They have two great gachas there, one for picnickers and one for fishing fans. I was thrilled to find it because the oldest family heirloom in my family is a large conch shell. My seventh great-grandfather picked it up on the beach almost 370 years ago while on his honeymoon in Barbados in 1649. It has been passed down ever since and my cousin, being the eldest son of the eldest son, has it in his living room on a buffet similar to this one from Fancy Decor (another Arcade find.)

Casual Country Comfort

“Sometimes, when we cannot attain the freedom we are fighting for, we free ourselves by carving a new path to freedom.”So, I love to laze about and read. This lovely Boho bed from DRD at The Arcade is big enough for lots of layers.

“Sometimes, when we cannot attain the freedom we are fighting for, we free ourselves by carving a new path to freedom.”My lazing cottage is the Daisy Cottage from HIVE for The Arcade. It has a lovely window that is perfect for some plants or pillows if you like hanging out front. In the background you can see a gramophone from Contraption, some artwork, a lemon tree, and The Secret Stores gorgeous vintage desk.

Old Enemies New Friends

I have, multiple times, realized I was so SLold that I could no longer quite fully recall why I disliked someone. Early days of plurk wars, SCD wars, fashion drama left so much in their wake in terms of scorched earth and friendships destroyed. Lines were drawn so long ago between camps that I can no longer recall why they were drawn, nor which camp I actually belong to.

I’m failing at partisanship.

It would be meaningful if I could recall why I didn’t like him, but I can’t and lately I find him rather friendly and nice and I’m finally SLold enough that I don’t feel a strong need to AGREE with or APPROVE of everyone I meet.

Thus, now I’m friends with Sands.

He and I are both done with all those things from the past, apparently, because we had a lovely chat and he gave me some pants. He also gave me a jacket. He’s a gentleman like that. (Okay he’s NOT but let me be artistically creative alright?)

It’s also kinda cool when you look up and someone you’ve known for years is suddenly quite talented and making things. That’s the case here, and his brand Azuchi doesn’t disappoint. These pants, which can you pick up at UBER) are really lovely, richly textured and they fit like a dream. I really do like these, they are a must have for your pants wardrobe girls.

It’s probably end times, when Sands and are are friends. Or – maybe it’s how it’s supposed to be and all those other people were the douchebags after all.

History really does point to the latter.

No, I’m not banging him. STOP THINKING IT. God you’re rude.

Now, go shopping. GET IT! You know you need some new leather pants.

Hello Cold Weather

Hello Cold Days

December is here and that means Christmas! and The Arcade! and it is up for debate which is more exciting. It’s so easy to go the red and green route for the holidays, but I resisted, buoyed by the gorgeous Camellia lights from {anc} over in the corner. I went for pinks and turquoises, think Miami meets Idaho. I liberally used the edit menu to tint my furnishings just a bit and even retexture a few things such as the runner on the side table. I know it’s a blend of modern and traditional that should clash, but it doesn’t. I think of Simon de Pury when I decorate, “Be bold, be brave, be amazing.” Why not mix modern settees with traditional cupboards and folk art and deco end tables? If you can make harmony of contradiction, then it’s not just bold, it is amazing.
