Penumbra Fashion Week continues for just a few more days. I decided to feature another dress from A la Folie. This one is Gloria and I chose it for a few reasons. The sunny color is a delight and a wonderful contrast to the cloudy skies. I also love pencil skirt and the Sixties styling. It makes me think of Oscar de la Renta from that era. Then, it is the 21st, which means 21 Shoe, which means the gorgeous shoes that are after the cut are for sale for this day only, and this dress and those shoes seem made for each other.
I have not been to Roche for some time. I dropped in to visit and confirm that it is still one of the loveliest sims on the grid. Continue reading →
The bright yellow linen pants from Faster Pussycat and the loose white button-down shirt from erratic were a simple, but colorful outfit that hopefully is not lost in the colorful profusion of prints at Blossom the texture explosion at LEA22.
We can imbue talismans with tremendous power through the powers of faith and suggestion. If you believe something will work for you; it often will. Monica Outlander of MiaMai has created in real life and now in Second Life®, a collection of talismanic sprites that can bring health and happiness to those who invest the power of belief in them. If your worldview is more prosaic and devoid of supernatural beliefs, they can also be enjoyed for their quirky adorability and the come with a magnificent free shelf that can be used to display these sprites, but I think I will also rez a few more of these shelves for otters things as well.
There’s also a home protection sprite hanging on a branch that is equally adorable. The gorgeous house is the Hudson Townhouse from Scarlet Creative and can be found at Collabor88 this month. Continue reading →
I dreamed I was there in Jacket Heaven and oh what a beautiful dream. But then, it was not a dream! Tres Blah really did release a perfect jacket in five metallics just in time for Christmas. I love jackets and need them desperately because so many tops and dresses are strapless. I don’t mind strapless in a formal, but for everyday – nope, not for me. I want some sleeves! These jackets are sold along with some cute rompers at N°21, the event that just opened yesterday. Yes, I hit teleport several times to get in, but once I was there, everything razzed easily and quickly and I cam-shopped happily.
Speaking of formals, Baiastice has released the annual Winter Collection of formals just in time for the holidays and they are gorgeous. This classic comes with a regular skirt or one with a tulle overskirt. I elected to wear the tulle. I snapped a picture when I was over at The Liaison Collaborative picking up the necklace and earrings I am wearing. It’s beautifully decorated for the holidays. Continue reading →
One day and one day only the shoes I’m posting here are available at the mainstores of each creator for the 21 Shoe Event !! Up first is Ingenue with some girly pumps you’ll probably need to pick up. These are available for SLINK or BELLEZA feet.
Up next is Sax Shepherd Design with the season’s requisite houndstooth print, a staple of fall and winter fashion.
You can see the SSD shoes are avail for flat or heels depending on what you like.
Rounding up my last pick is LVLE which reminds us also that it’s SL and we can always just wear sandals because snow never hurts our feet here !
This is a very short list of beautiful shoes being featured at 21 Shoe this month ! Go pop by the mainstores to check them out !
“Basic bitch” has become the insult du jour, which under the common usage of “basic” makes the insult and those who use it basic. Would that make it basic squared? Lots of insults come and go, but this one strikes me as particularly malignant and shallow.
The princess dress from Adore & Abhor was released to celebrate their sixth anniversary. It is rich in design details including a sheer overskirt, a lovely ribbon belt and a cameo collar.
Let me start with a confession. I do not hate Shopping Cart Disco’s SL Secrets. From sociology and evolutionary psychology, I understand the role of gossip in defining community norms and values. It is possible that anonymity allows more viciousness than we might see in first life, but given the many stories about young people driven to suicide by online harassment on Facebook® and Twitter® coming from non-anonymous classmates, I think that anonymity is a smaller factor than we might think.
Sometimes the secrets make me think, sometimes they make me laugh, sometimes they surprise me. Secrets often spark discussions on Plurk® and I suppose they do on other social media as well. Sometimes I agree with the secret-makers, sometimes I do not. One thing most secret-makers have in common is an idea of how the world should be and they want us all to know it is out of alignment with their standards.
Today a secret maker repeated the all too common “Get a real life” mantra that always seems so ironic coming from someone whose emotional investment is Second Life® is so powerful they are compelled to create anonymous secrets to share their opinions. This time, the “Get a real life” message included an insinuation that purchasing from SL creators could be contributing to their mental illness by promoting an attachment to this second life over their first life.
I think the secret maker is wrong on all levels – because while our first and second lives are distinct and often separate, they are both real.
