It’s Only Fashion: What’s the craziest thing you ever did in Second Life? Most exciting? Silliest? Is there a story you can share that captures your Second Life experience?

Albakruna: Actually I consider every day of my days in Second Life the craziest, silliest, funniest ever because let’s face it, even just hovering over a cloud in the sky while building is not that usual. What chained me to this world and still keep me thrilled about is the fact you virtually can do whatever as the imagination is the only limit and, we know, imagination has no limits 🙂

IOF: What drew you to designing hair? When did you start? What are some of the changes that were most significant for you?

Alba: My building experience has moved its first steps from the deep need I felt to have more historical looking outfits during my roleplay and the headdresses I could find, in spite beautiful under every aspect, were never looking like real medieval or renaissance hair styles. So I decided to start building them myself and started to gather knowledge about the matter.

IOF: How did you choose your store name? Does it have a special meaning for you? If your stores is named after yourself, how did you go about choosing your avatar name?

Alba: I have been choosing the name “Oblivion” because I felt like if I were visiting a forgotten attic and find there a chest filled of old hats covered with dust. So I have been sinking into the Oblivion to rescue what was forgotten and left behind.

IOF: What is the most challenging part of being a creator in Second Life? What is most rewarding?

Alba: For me the most challenging part is to learn to do something better each time and it happens that I am never totally satisfied of what I have done this push me ahead to learn more and improve. So when I have finished working and start thinking to myself “maybe I should have done in that way” or “it would have better if…” at that point one of my customer send me a pictures of them wearing my headdresses with a long message about how much they like it… that is the best reward ever.

IOF: Where do you get inspiration for your designs? What is your process like?

Alba: I have different sources depending of what kind of headdress I am going to create. For historical hairstyles the ancient paintings are the main source of inspiration while instead for the fantasy headdresses I leave my imagination free to run wild.

IOF: What sets your hair styles apart from other hair designers, in your opinion? What is your style or aesthetic?

Alba: I think definitely my desire to keep my headdresses as much as possible close to an historical looking keeps me quite apart from the other creators.
